I am thinking about buying a well used CX4. I do not know the rifle well at all. I was wondering what might need to done to make it a pretty good gun again. Is it likely that some certain parts would be worn out? Which parts? I am guessing that it has 10,000 rounds through it.

I'd replace any spring, the ejector, and have a spare guide rod and buffer on standby. Beyond that, look it over and see if anything's particularly worn, taking note of the trigger parts if it has the original polymer ones. If you can shoot it before you buy it, that would probably be for the best too.

The triggers are really heavy, to the point that I thought mine was broken the first time I shot it. There is a replacement but it's not cheap. Just FYI before you buy.

I played with a new one. The trigger was long, firm and mushy.
I bought this one and the long pull is free like a two stage. The break was much better but the reset is long. I need to do something.
Also, the flip (muzzle rise) was much more than expected. It wasn't as soft shooting as I'd hoped.

All I know is the way mine was, this was about 5 years ago and I bought it used. When I researched the Beretta forum it was a common complaint and there was only one replacement option. Didn't sound like anyone attempted to work on them.

I'm guessing they improved the trigger at some point on the later models.

Rest assured. The triggers are still horrible, I just noticed the difference of a well broken in one. If I get rich I may buy a trigger kit.

The trigger kit from Sierra Papa is fantastic, but you have to decide if it's worth it to you.

If the recoil bothers you, thread the barrel and slap on a brake. I just have a flash hider on mine.

The recoil is not bad. Just not the pfff I expected. I'd like to get back on target quicker.
I've seen some pricing on sp stuff but couldn't find the price on the trigger kit.

I have had mine since they first came on the market in the early 2000's. I have taken this to multiple courses and matches over the years.

Mine has over 20k rounds and I have changes springs and replace 1 extractor. I have a good red dot on it and it will drop 6 inch steel plates at 160 yards all day long.
