I'm looking for a more substantial backpack carrier so my daughter has a more comfortable ride if we are outside for a decent amount of time. We have the standard fabric one where she is right on my back, but since we both put off a ton of heat we both sweat really badly. Anyone have any suggestions for a hiking pack? I tried one out that a neighbor has, but my back was sweating like crazy due to no air channels. This would be for hiking, or anywhere that doesn't allow strollers.

We used a Dueter. Lasted for 2 boys, 2-3 hikes per month for 4-5 years, and we sold it “as new”.

Adjusted easily for my 6’4” frame and my wife at 5’3”.

That's good to hear. I'm short at 5'6", and the one I tried out was digging into my backside.

Adjustment was easy enough to do mid-hike when the wife decided she wanted to carry the kid for 100 yards before handing him back to me.

I should have updated this. I ignored all advice in this thread and went my own way. I got the Kelty Journey Elite? This thing is sweet and seems like it wouldn't be bad for all day wear. Took it on a three mile hike to test it out and she seemed to enjoy it.

Got it out at Chimney Rock. That was a lot of steps with my bad knees and the little terrorist on my back. This pack distributes the weight extremely well, and my wife was able to quickly adjust it for her on the trail when she used it for maybe a tenth of a mile. I will say if I stand still too long she starts trying to shake it by the handle like I'm a lazy mule.
