Dallas officer goes home to wrong apartment, kills man inside

But this situation had nothing to do with work besides she was in uniform.
So are you saying because you are a policeman you should be held to a higher account if your entire life on duty and off for the rest of your life? I get they should be held to a higher account while on duty.

I'm a little late to the party on this part but some of the others have pretty much summed it up.

I would be happy to see qualified immunity go away and state agents held to the very standard us civilians are held to. At the very least.

The perception is that these people get away with murder on a regular basis.

Let's say that's not true. Lest we forget, perception is everything. Right or wrong. It's on them that the perception is that they get special treatment.

Perception is a funny animal. Your perception of an event is based on your particular bias, filtered through your personal experience and desires. The NFL protesters perceive that cops unfairly target people of color when the facts prove just the opposite.

In this particular case there are some that think that because she wasn't taken into custody right then the fix was in but the fact is that charges are often delayed until all the facts are in for non law enforcement types too, that's one of the functions of a grand jury.

There is nothing that you, I or anyone else can do to change your perception on an event without delving into your pathology X times everyone else who see the story.

So a different neighbor posted on social media that the shooter has moved out of her apartment with the help of the Dallas PD. Wonder if they searched her residence for marijuana prior to transporting all her stuff to her new place?

I bet they double checked the address though, just to be sure. Wouldn't want to be all "damn girl why do you have this heavy ass piano... and who's kids are these?" when loading up her stuff.

But you also don't compromise the faith of the public in your ability to remain fair and impartial when one of your own is the accused.

Does anyone still have that faith? If so, they must not be paying attention.

It's better to treat all Citizens as bad, until proven other wise. The only way to give respect, is to be respected.

How does it look this way?

Of course police should be held to a higher standard of behavior and performance. That’s think otherwise is moronic. They have the capability to detain citizens and assert the authority of the state on them. With that capability comes a responsibility on how they should hold themselves and their behavior.

So are you in agreement with Kaepernick that all cops are pigs?
That’s stretching it. You must not have read animal farm. Now if someone had put a badge on the pig in that picture your question would be justified.

He must think cops are pigs. How disrespectful of him.

Never said that. Don't try to project your own biases and motives onto me. If you believe all animals are equal under the law then you haven't been paying attention to recent history.
Here's 3 "equal" animals who committed equal crimes:

A US Navy sailor was sentenced on Friday to a year in prison for taking photos of classified areas inside a nuclear attack submarine while it was in port in Connecticut.

On Tuesday, the Justice Department announced the arrest of a former CIA officer on a felony charge of unlawfully retaining classified information. Jerry Chun Shing Lee (a/k/a “Zhen Cheng Li”) is charged in a complaint with one count of unlawfully retaining classified information, a felony carrying a potential ten-year prison sentence.

“Foreign actors” obtained access to some of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s emails -- including at least one email classified as “secret” -- according to a new memo from two GOP-led House committees and an internal FBI email.

Which "equal" animal went to prison, which "equal" animal is facing prison and which "equal" animal is flying all over the world getting richer?

Do you get it now?

Terry

The onus is law enforcement in general. Not me or any other member of the public. Large groups of people don't usually have a perception unless there is some truth in it.

Carry on with your hatred because you don't have the power you feel you deserve.
Out.

Truth strike a nerve?

That's nothing but stone cold facts, man.

And it's got nothing to do with hatred. Your response is exactly why the relationship between LE and the public at large continues to deteriorate: any criticism is veiwed as hate and failure to hero worship is seen as being anti-cop.

She has now been fired.

Dallas police officer Amber Guyger was fired after an investigation determined she “engaged in adverse conduct when she was arrested for manslaughter” in the killing of her black neighbor, officials said.

Why is it necessary to say Black Neighbor? Does that matter AT all?

Race baiting and keeping the hatred alive only works if you work at it. Otherwise people would forget who the bad guy is half the time....

How did she know he was black if it was dark in the apartment when she shot him? I seem to remember that she said she only saw a shadowy figure across the room. I could be wrong though.

Perhaps he smoked weed in his apartment, that could be why the search warrant listed narcotics.

I'm having a little trouble understanding what this means.

Likewise. Adverse behavior could mean a lot of things. My first thought was that she'd given false statements but you would think they would just say so.

“Adverse Behavior” I believe is the term the city attorneys put in the press release to help lessen the civil liabilities the city will be facing when the family sues especially the city and the DPD along with the officer, the apartment complex, etc for the death of the guy. Every press release and news conference today is full of words and phrases to cover their asses.

She was participating in a Kavanaugh rape train on the corpse of the deceased when the police that hadn't murdered anybody (yet) arrived.
As long as she didn't say the N-word...

Trial has started if anyone is interested. Wife has it on and been watching it since the start. The lead investigator for the Texas Rangers was testifying and said there was no crime committed by Guyger. Wow, just wow. If folks want to know what's wrong with LE I think that guy may need to be the poster child. No crime? I don't think she'll get Murder 1 but she went into someones apartment and shot them. That's not an accident. It may be a mistake, but that mistake has legal implications when the homeowner ends up with 2 bullets to the chest.

Wonder if the Ranger would have said that had it been the other way around - Guyger was off duty chilling in her apartment and some guy walks in thinking it is his place and shoots her.
