So on my satellite I was trying to record a bunch of episodes of It's Always Sunny and some of them were on Vice. Ive only watched a few things on there and they were ok, but just dont go to the channel often.
Anyway, there was a commercial during the program for a show called Dark Side of the Ring.

Im not a wrestling fan, was a mediocre fan around the age of 10, but never got really into it.
but thisseemed interesting so I set the DVR to record some episodes.

Again, Im not a wrestling guy, so a lot of these folks are new to me or I just dont know the story.
But each episode is about a crazy event in the wrestling world, ie
-Chris Benoit - he killed his wife and kid and then suicide
-Dino Bravo - a Canadian who gets involved with the mafia and ends up killed in his home, 11 shots by 22 and 380
etc

AGAIN - IM NOT A WRESTLING GUY...but this is a good watch.
I'd put it up on the same level as the Andre the Giant doc that HBO series, showing the history of the person, their personal life, lots of interviews etc

Im watching the New Jack episode now
Again, this is pretty much all new to me, but so well done that Im into it. It doesnt make me want to go watch wrestling, but I do like learning about this lifestyle that I dont know about

This show came up in a discussion again about an upcoming A&E series. Binged it this week. 6 episodes Tue, 7 yesterday, and the last 3 today. I’d say 10-12 of the 16 were pretty good. Just didn’t care for a couple of them featuring wrestlers I didn’t care about at all.

I think Jim Cornette was my favorite regular character in the series.

Probably Road Warriors. Except for the mohawk that was struggling!!

Followed by The Montreal Screwjob (knew all the players, didn’t know the story) and the Macho Man & Elizabeth episodes.

The Chris Benoit two-parter was well done, just hard to watch because of the storyline. Same for Owen Hart.

Oh yeah...and I think seeing Nikita Koloff out of character was my favorite quick moment.

I didnt know many of these folks, but enjoyed most episodes
Like New Jack...WOW, what a ride, why is that dude on the loose?

Evidently there’s a second series that continues some of the stories. One article called it Dark Side of the Ring: Confidential. But when I search I find some episodes titled like this - Confidential: The Montreal Screwjob. I’m going to try and catch Montreal, Road Warriors, and Owen Hart.

I was watching The Other Guys on Vice tonight and saw an ad for Confidential. Also saw mention of a 3rd season of Dark Side coming later.

Some of those guys can get caught up in a variety of things.......dealing with fame and fortune to being a broke nobody quick. Entertainment can be a fad..... Being on the road a lot with idle time can lead to infidelity, drugs, alcohol and just trouble in general. Anabolic steroids and the diet needed to maintain their weight/physique doesn't help with leading a long life.

Ive got my directv to record automatically the series...a hold over from when I first found the series
Well, it started recording the new Confidential episodes. I watched the Gino one Saturday, was ok, an extra 30 minutes long with a little extra footage and the producers talking to a host about the episode a bit.

Biggest shocker on the GG episode was finding out that his mother was married to Jimmy Snuka...and his (GG) grandfather married Snuka's mom. Weird. But ,yeah, other than that, sort of a waste, if Im being honest.

Im ready for season 3

So the Confidential episodes are the same as the original with added content? Not all new content?

Correct
They are 90 minutes vs 60, but, of course, that also includes commercials.
It shows the regular episode and the one I saw had two more scenes added + the producers/creators discussing their research and opinions etc

New season pretty good, watched the Nick Gage ep yesterday. A guy Id never heard of, real rough dude that does REALLY extreme wrestling and has done plenty of time in prison etc

New season started this week. I have my DVR set to record all episodes (I never know when a new season starts or ends), and saw a few ago that there was a title that I didnt recognize.

Not as exciting, to me, mostly just interviews, not a lot of footage. But this first one is about some airplane ride back from Europe.
Not bad, and Im sure the other episodes will be just as good as the other ones in the past
