Was reloading a few 300bo's yesterday Like 10 pc. with some misc. bollitz I had laying around [trying to clean up some loose stuff], and all I had to measure the powder with were the lee dip measure set, what a pita! I used to have like 3 stand alone powder
measures but sold them while obama was a threat. If I could I would kick myself [i'll just go get the wife, she can handle that pretty well], I headed over to Midway and sure enough they have lee perfect PM in stock:D, shipped for like $34, I jumped on it. I still have about 150 more 300bo to load and don't want to mess up any of my dillon tool heads. I should have known that I would have use for some of this stuff that I sold off. Hey it's only $$$$$$$!

The 300 bo dies are not set up in a tool head, and I don't want to un set up 1 of my set up tool heads. this is such a small amount of ammo that i would reload it on 2 of my ss presses. It's different boolit weights, so different col's/amounts of powder............ easier on a ss press. Got any extra 550 tool heads you would part with for a good price?

If all you have had is some dippers, how have you set the powder dropper on your Dillon? Are you putting the powder dropped by the Dillon into the dippers rather than on some sort not scale?

So, in the years since, you hadn't bothered to replace them? Is that what you're saying?

i have a spare tool head if you’re running a 650

When I teach reloading,, I always stress the need for single stage stuff as a starter set-up. And if progressive is desired,, KEEP THE SINGLE-STAGE SET-UP. You will always find a need that the SS will fill.
Just yesterday,, I had a guy I've been teaching call with some questions. When I discussed his issues,, his comment; "So, my Lee single stage will handle that,,,, right?"

The dippers don't have anything to do with the dillon powder measure. I don't have a tool head for the 300 dies and don't want to take the dies out of a tool head that's already set up for something else.
I only have about 140 pc to load right now.

Been handloading for 35+ years....still use only a single-stage press.

If all you have to measure powder is the Lee dippers, what do you use to set your Dillon? Do you not have some sort of powder scale?

I started with a single stage because I was about 14 and did not have money for a progressive. I wore out that Lyman Spartan and got a Rock Chucker that I still use. I got a Dillon 550 about a decade ago and firmly believe that if someone is so mechanically awkward that they can not figure out how to use a progressive to make good safe ammo, then they should not be reloading and perhaps not even driving a car.

My progressive is two single stage presses[emoji41]

Sounds like you have a setup similar to mine.

I do all resizing/seating on my RC and use a Lee S/S with a FCD to crimp.

Fun comments here! :D

Charlie,, you & I got started in similar fashion. My first press was a Lyman Spartan,, and next a RockChucker. I still have & use the RC. My first progressive was a Dillon 650. Still have it too.

Haha reading these comments is funny. You really threw people off by mentioning “Dillon”!

The op stated in his first post that all he had for measuring powder was the Lee dippers. If that was the case, I was curious how he was setting the droppers on his Dillon. Evidently the dippers are not the only means he has to measure powder since he eventually said he had other methods by having some scales.

If Dillon offered blue scoops at 5x the price of black/yellow scoops folks would buy them!

I understand. While he didn’t say it explicitly, I knew he meant that he didn’t want to change anything on his Dillon therefore the dippers were all he had for this press, not in his entire reloading room. Frankly the Dillon setup was irrelevant so it would have made for a more clearly written post if he left it out completely.

This arrived yesterday [thank you USPS, and Larry Potterhead] even though the price was a bit inflated, you know anything to keep Midway in business
This should take care of those small batches of stuff I need to reload. At least it was readily available.
