Deadly LAPD Officer-Involved Shooting

I can't believe the slant from the media on that one. "the second officer was hiding behind the vehicle". He didn't appear to be hiding to me, also asking why they didn't see the gun when we can all see how fast it went down.

Colin Kaepernick school of journalism. But seriously, someone should start asking him about these good shoots. I'm sure it would be enlightening about his beliefs.

@Cowboy pointed out a podcast to me where a black scholar tried to make the case where police were more apt to shoot black folk and proved the opposite. He also spoke about Trump trying to have a dialogue with these fooseballers saying show me a case where a black person was unfairly treated by police and he would review the case and if necessary issue pardons. The protesters then went "it's not about that , its the general blah blah blah.

They wouldn't put their money where their mouth was because it would be the end of their glory ride.

It starts around the 20 minute mark.

Hiding behind a TV camera and microphone.

She did grab the slide, quick thinking, but he was too strong and pulled the gun away from her.

They need to get drivers to keep hands on the wheel as they exit the car, he would have killed both of the officers no doubt.

Glad they both made it out. It is suggested to grip the slide/frame behind the muzzle to prevent the cycling of another round. Good on her.
The idiotic sensationalist media says they approached a known gang member. I wonder, was it known before they approached? And if so, should they not have had weapons drawn upon approach? I'm not a cop, forgive me if that's against the rules, even if the offender is a known gang member.

Don't know if second officer had his service weapon at low ready, I bet he did.
Bad dude, now dead dude, thought he was smart by keeping the pistol close to his body.

The questions the media point out about “how” or “why” are just plain ignorant. To avoid those things it would almost take treating every stop as a “felony traffic stop” and then the LEOs would be called on that. 99.44% of the LEO actions everyday go by unnoticed but when the media can take any dash cam, body cam, bystander cellphone video, etc and sensationalize it they seem to do so.

Honestly, I wouldn’t second guess this situation ... I swear the body cam of her partner seemed to me to show he saw the guy grab something but reaction time was to short to stop the SOB before he acted BUT he sure neutralized the threat ASAFP and got help for his partner ... both got to go home at some point and the POS reached room temperature.

I don’t believe the “routine” traffic stop exists anymore; but as several have pointed out, officers can’t treat every contact as a felony stop.

What I missed (?) did the officer order the bum out of the car or did he force his way out? It’s been YEARS since I was on the job, yet when I made a traffic stop I wanted everyone to stay in the car. That gave me the advantage of mobility and kept everyone else in a confined area. I also positioned myself slightly behind the driver who was seated. Doing this gave me a clear view of the interior of the car and forced the driver to turn to their left in awkward position to see and speak with me.

I hope the wounded officer will totally recover and kudos to her partner for taking care of business.
