Trip to Atlanta this week...

Normal luggage - check
Get home bag - check
Extra water - check
Extra food - check
Sig 228 and extra mags - check

Here's the question.

Should the scorpion or an AR make the trip?

Both have pros and cons, but can't quite figure out which to toss in the back and take with me this time. Before you say both, not an option. Well, I could, but I'm not gonna carry all that if I get stuck walking back one of those 2 would get left behind and we're back to square one.

If you are staying in a hotel you will find it very difficult to find a secure place to lock your own gunsafe/lock box to. If you have to leave it in your car make sure its secure and hidden as well. Atlanta is a car thieves heaven.

My 10.5" AR pistol is my go-to for trips like this. It has the MSR sling with multiple flush cups so you have carry options for that long walk home.

You might have something similar in x39...

This is true. I don't leave anything in the truck anymore unless it's locked up in it's special place. Taking the jeep down this time since I need to replace a wheel bearing and plan to do ball joints at the same time next week. Truck can make it there and back on a tank and a half of fuel, jeep? Yeah... it's gonna suck.

The little "pistol" is an option and has made the trip with me there a few times. It's just so freaking LOUD. Lol

You were already there and are just now recognizing that fact.
You're likely right. There's just so many that I gave up trying to keep up. At this point what difference does it make?

I'd take the AR pistol. If you really needed something with more reach than your handgun, you'll be glad to have the extra velocity and flatter trajectory of 5.56. Also, if for whatever reason the firearm was lost, AR pistol would be less costly to replace than the Scorpion.

I keep a pistol, an AR, and 6-7 mags for each, as standard riding around equipment
Agreed. And a Mossberg Shockwave would make a good addition. At least that's what I keep telling myself.

My vote is for the full size AR. Upon arrival with the proper back pack it can be broken down and taken in and out the vehicle to hotel, work and etc. Unless your employer has a policy against it. This way you don't have to worry about theft and have a full size weapon option. I was gonna say sufficient fire power but your are going to Atlanta.

You may need more firepower than that just to get out of ATL.
FIFY

AR pistol or some form of collapseable rifle and happy sticks for the regular pistol. If you have to hit the road, concealment may be a factor to be the grey man. I'm assuming you're taking a Get Home Bag. Don't forget hikeable footwear. Oh, and ear pro if you take the AR pistol.

Grabbed the usual pistol load out for my driving trips, but swapped the 228 for a 229 and some extra loaded mags.

Pretty sure the AR is going to get the win for some extra range, and broken down doesn't take up much more room than the scorpion.

AR. AR pistol seems like a compromise unless you can carry it with you the entire time instead of the Sig. So you're likely to have the Sig on you and the AR in the car/room. In the event something truly bad happens the capabilities of the AR could be a lot more useful.

Convert your AR pistol to 300blk. :) Quieter and more effective, but then you lose something in ability to hump as many rounds. You could just get a Sub2K and Glock and call it done. I don't see needing more than 100-150yd capability at the most. I would be just keeping heads down and de-assing the area, not playing dueling snipers. ;)

AR ... use a cable lock thru the upper's ejection port and out the mag well to secure it to a solid post, spare tire mount, etc when you need to leave it unattended. My truck AR rides like that under the rear seat and if some idiot wants to take the time and effort to try and steal it after my alarm has gone off and alerted me on my cell phone he deserves what happens. At night in many parts of ATL I'd sleep with it!

This is a trip out of Atlanta. Rental tank.

When I hit play, it played for a bit then started buffering. This screen shot is where it stopped. She has an awful sex face

It is one city that if I never visit again, my life will be just as complete. I can't think of anything I lost there that I want bad enough to go get. Walking around that town, I certainly understood the expression, "a gun is supposed to be comforting, not comfortable". Wouldn't have wanted to be there without it.

I had to take several business trips to Atlanta last year; I took my regular G19 and also my 10.5" AR with suppressor. I didn't leave either in the hotel room during the "working" day, but it certainly didn't stay in the parking lot, despite however secure Westin said it was.

I felt better having it, along with a get-home-bag
