Deer down thread

Had a good night in the woods Sunday evening and put some meat in the freezer! There was a third doe with them that I contemplated shooting too. My buddy was with me and he thought it was wild they never moved at 35 yards when the suppressed 308 went off. The third one just stood there as well as if she didn’t know what to do!

There's surprisingly little damage to that squirrel. I figured a .308 would have mutilated it. :eek:

Same with my 300blk. Ive not had a deer run more then 15 feet after a shot unless it was hit. They startle, but they don’t take off.

Wrapped up my season today with a twofer. Took the new 6.5CM Savage 110 out for its inaugural flight. Got 2 does, 105lbs each and about an hour apart.

Didn’t get any pics.

1st shot from 135-140y and second shot just inside 75. Both taken with 129gr Hornady American Whitetail. Both dropped in their tracks with good exits.

Was hoping to try out the ELD-X 143s but didn’t get my dies in on time to get any loaded. Next year!

I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but I hope to be posting in this thread about this guy next season.

Any guesstimates on the age?

You get big bucks when you don’t shoot little bucks. Wish these dipshits around here (as in around my hunting areas) would figure that out.

With only a couple days left and my daughter burned out by unsuccessful buck hunts, I figured I better get back out if I wanted a "sausage" doe.

Here they come!

There was something about the area they didn't like, so they decided to just wander away. I had to act quickly!

Line it up and POP! Through and through. Double lung. But, this little lady wasn't going to just lay there. She tore through the woods, putting maybe 50 to 60yds between points. She was DOT (dead over there). Lol. 300blk 187gr PNW polymer tipped subs.

Thanks for the support and words of encouragement @11B CIB and @JustKeepSwimming . I couldn't have done it without you.

@BBD280

I just saw your deer heart thread.

Yes, deer heart is vurry nice. I keep all of mine, when possible. Livers, too.
