It would be interesting to start/host a defensive gun use tracker.

The mass shooting tracker got a lot of hype. It is a crowd-sourced database that basically links news stories as a source.

https://massshootingtracker.org/

This thing is basically considered one of the strongest sources for mass shootings now.

It would be interesting to have a similar site for defensive gun uses.

verified with news stories or police reports?

Potential definition: Legally owned handgun used to stop or prevent a crime. No shots need to have been fired and no injuries need to have occurred.

Thoughts?

defensivegunusetracker.com domain name is taken but not active...

defensivegunusetracker.com is available as is dgutracker.com

any techies want to help start something like this?

I don't recall where I saw it. But it was something like the average deaths in mass shootings stopped by the police is >13.
But the average for those events stopped by an individual legally carrying a firearm is ~3.
Since mass shootings don't become mass murders unless 4 or more die, the left gets away with saying lawful gun owners don't stop mass murders.
But then they use exceedingly loose definitions for what qualifies as a mass shooting. Someone twists their ankle running away, they are a victim of a mass shooting.

I found this reddit page. I think i've actually seen it before...LOL!

https://old.reddit.com/r/dgu/

seems to be pretty active!

the data would just need to be managed on a separate site and collated into a form that quantifies the number of episodes etc that meet the agreed upon definition.

are there any downsides to this? I imagine anti-2A folks will say "why didn't they shoot them in the leg" or say that the citizens used "excessive force"

Doesn't something like this exist already? May be not to this degree though.

seems like the data is out there.

If you get a nice looking professional site running and then send out some press releases I think this could make a splash.

It doesn't fit the typical narrative but it would be nice data to show the "that never happens" folks.

The Libs have had their head up their butt for so long if this were to pull it out it would take half a lifetime to clear their eyes. They have been short sighted all of their lives and I'm not sure anything is going to change that. A Leopard never changes their spots..

the folks from reddit were very open to people using their data.

I will probably look retrospectively at a month or two.

If there were volunteers from each state or region, i'm guessing more data could be obtained.
