So while I am currently shopping for a new pistol ad stomping would have been posting on the 3-6 ads I saw yesterday that were priced higher than a new pistol. I just asked a question not even intending to be a jerk. Look I apologize

@Cowboy will think this is aimed at him, but it's not, there are others . We are all adults on this forum. If an interested party has questions about an ad, let them ask the seller, preferably in a PM. We don't need anyone to self appoint themselves to ask questions to clarify an ad.
 
Why did the OP delete his membership when the clear model for resolving an issue is to post a response, flounce out in a huff, and then announce to the other party that you are going to put them on "ignore?"

I mean.... I see that in admins, and sorta thought that was the mandated pattern here?

Different forums have different rules and expectations regarding "commenting" on ads, and not everyone posting here inhabits just this forum.

That said, as long as there are BST’s in an open forum format there will be questions in the threads, and even the occasional stomp. It’s inevitable, it’s the internet, (and quite honestly was once one of the most wildly entertaining things on another forum we are now loathe to speak of).

If it is considered so totally unacceptable to comment in an ad thread on this forum then the BST format probably needs to be changed so the ads can be like an Armslist closed format(which I would hate), rather than to continually rap the membership's collective knuckles with a wooden ruler in open forum. While it is true that the sense of humor of most gatherings of men is often reduced to the fourth grade level, admonishing them as if they were fourth graders doesn't often have the desired effect.

Moderating can be a thankless job, like many volunteer jobs. That said, it needs to be done with some degree of a sense of humor and discretion, a balance that some are better at than others. It ain’t for everybody. I should know.

They are mods...by definition they are “more equal” than others...it’s kinda their job...this isn’t Animal Farm, it’s a privately owned forum. Always has been.

Right. A lot of us have met, a lot of us consider each other friends. Do we always agree? Hell no. Do we always have each other’s back when it counts? Absolutely.

Do staff have to make unpopular decisions sometimes? Yes. Does staff like this bullshit that goes on? No. We have better things to do than wake up on Sunday morning and feel like the entire forum has exploded overnight.

Unlike Animal Farm you are not obligated to stay here. You are not a servant and they don’t own you. Multiple times you have tried to stir the pot with the mods because you feel they are unfair or have vendettas, but you keep coming back. You either have a vendetta or your own or the “abuse” you perceive is taking place isn’t really that bad.

This seems to be a common problem. There have been several threads about this topic recently. Non contributing members come here and act like their silly BST thread is their private throne room or something.

There is an expression in ham radio, an area where conflict naturally arises because of different personalities all sharing the same space with neither of them having ownership of it. It’s actially more than an expression and it’s the FCC directive: courtesy should be the prevailing order. I think it applies well here too.

That being said, I also think that contributing members who help keep the lights on ($$$) should have more leeway than a squatter who just shows up to sell their junk. If said member is courteous, and said non member gets pissy, I think it’s clear who should be shown the door.

One other thing I have noticed, and it seems to crop up in this BST threads predominantly, is the matter of who owns the site. Yes, there is a group of people who put their names on a legal charter. Yes, they do contribute and have made a sacrifice. I am not questioning or trying to demean that, but I just don’t get why it becomes such an issue in these BST threads.

It is not a double standard when people who own something use it as they see fit. Mods moderate. It’s right their in their name.

And it may not be your hill to die on, but they are certainly your hills to whine on and then slink away over and over again.

What are you having, just wondering. The time of year I have to eat well and get into shape for my on coming War with the Fireants. I believe this year they have brought in a New Ruthless Leader and thousands of reinforcements.
