Did You Go Shooting Today

At TSA in Raleigh, checked out my FNS-40L police trade, shoots great,
I just need to put some white nail polish on the expired night sights.
I ran into Bill the owner at the used firearms display.

Took my wife, another nurse and doctor that she works with shooting yesterday. The 2 friends have never shot anything in their life. We started on the pistol range and then took them over to shoot some steel on the rifle range. All three had no problem ringing steel at 300yds. They had a lot of fun shooting and spotting for each other.

Took my wife yesterday to my club's range. Her first time shooting a firearm. Not anti but has never had any interest. Did pretty good for first time. There was also another couple there and they, especially the lady, incouraged her. She suggested to my wife to try the ladies get together at the range on Saturdays.

I went yesterday and today.
My lesson yesterday went well, we were able to sort some stuff out (low left), and I got to shoot a Sig p320 x-carry! A bit fat in the grip, but I did ok with it and it was heavy enough not to rip my hand off, which was nice. That thing is hard to hold up long enough to shoot the whole magazine!
Shot about 200 rounds total, and had fun shooting one-handed, left and right. I heard "outstanding" from my instructor, who has the patience of a saint!
Then I went back today, and shot 100 rounds in my carry gun, one-handed, not as brilliantly as yesterday... but it's ok, I was tired from getting lots of work done last evening on my tattoo.
All told, 2 good days on the range!

No again. Did you see the rain? I once played a game dodging dancing squirrels in the road. Now they are swimming fish in the road. Come on drought.

Got out for the first time in a couple weeks, it was 38/357 day. Took a model 10, a pair of model 19’s, a stubby model 6xx, a contender, and the Rossi M92.

Interesting to compare the triggers on the various revolvers in both dbl and single action. Reconfirmed that I’m not a good shot, especially dbl action.

Think I’m either gonna figure out how to slick up the M92, or sell it.

Part of my "shoot everything every year or sell it off" plan, I broke out one of the memento pieces and put some rounds through it. Still runs.

No one should give me grief running commie Russian ammo through my commie Russian SKS.

Also did some handgun drills and dusted the XDs off to remind me why a tiny .45 is... well not fun to plink with.

I ran 50 rounds through the .458 Socom and managed to sight in the replacement optic Primary Arms sent to me, once dialed in I was able to get some very good groups out of it.

Put 60 through the PA10 and 90 through the 300blk pistol and they are still running like a top.

Broke in my sub-2k and a R51 pistol.

I’ll write up a range report on the R51 soon.

When I got there and there were two college age women shooting on the lane next to me. After they left two middle-aged African-American women came in were shooting on that lane. I view that as a very good sign !

I've seen lots more women of all ages coming into Jim's since I started going there in September or October! I'm very happy to see them there.
Today a young girl was there with (I assume) her father and a little teeny rifle, getting shown how to shoot! Very nice!

I did go shooting solo today...and two other days this week. Today I ran the targets out to 7 yards, a huge distance for me, and I still hit them! (In my training sessions we go to about 12-15 feet.)

Three range days in a week, and Battery Oaks tomorrow....what more can a girl ask for? It's going to be one of my favorite weeks ever, I'm sure!

Met a buddy up near Austin for what was probably my last range trip in TX. Did about 500 rounds of 9mm and a few hundred 5.56. We had a good time working on some longer pistol distance shooting 75-100yds and i confirmed my zero for the rounds I’ll be using on a hog hunt next weekend.

Grew up in the San Antonio area. Do miss the Hill Country, brisket, rodeo, Lone Star and that south Texas draw :)

I will definitely miss living here and we’re going to be moving back after I retire. Had some brisket for dinner after the range.

A bit late, but I took another Brit first-timer to TSA last week. Introduced him to the AR platform, put some more rounds through the R51, and showed him the big muzzle flash from .357 magnum. My buddy was on the lane next to me and let him shoot a Glock 9mm and started him off with a Neos .22.

I love me some Rudy's. My buddy always takes me to Witt Pit in Rosenberg when I'm in Texas.

@Bullseye Baldee and I went up to Frontline yesterday. He had a 45/70 rifle with a new scope on it. We were trying to figure out the MOA per divisions on the turrets. The turrets don't move the reticle, the turrets actually move the rear of the scope up and down, left and right - very old school! We zeroed at 100 on paper, then moved over to the 500 yard range and worked out to 300 yards. Pretty cool.

I brought my AR with the modified mag (rounds loaded longer than regular mag length) and shot a couple of groups @ 100, which were only about 1 moa, I was hoping for a little better. But, I moved over to the 500 yard range and went straight to the 500 yard target. Luckily, they had just painted the steel so it was easy for me to tell where I was hitting. I put 4 rounds into about a 3" group, just slightly left of center (the wind was blowing slightly from the right) so I was VERY happy with that. Then I went to the 1000 yard range to try shooting a little farther. 600 yards was not a problem, but 700 yards seem to be just a touch outside the capability of me, the gun, and/or the ammo. I only hit the 700 yard target 2 out of 4, and with the ground so wet (and no spotter) I had no idea where the other rounds landed.

The last thing we did was head down to the pistol range. I started by using up some 380 rounds through my LCP. It had not been shot in a while, but it did a decent job. Then we took turns with the 460. This has become a standard thing for us - @Bullseye Baldee drives, and I bring my 460 for him to shoot. He thinks he is going to buy that gun from me some day. :D Then the new (to me) Beretta 96, which impressed me on how it shot. I did not bother trying the DA trigger pull, though, only SA. Then about 50 rounds of 10mm. We picked up our brass and left (and I actually picked up more 10mm than I shot - always a good thing!)

Awesome. I have a Brit friend as well (former British military) and have taken him out shooting on a few occasions. He just bought his first AR last weekend at the gun show. ;) And bought his wife (American) her own EDC as well.

Shot @ 100 rounds of 9mm yesterday through a G34 and a Kahr PM9. I ran the prez with 6” steel at 10 yards with the G34. I usually use a G27 or 23 (40 cal), the G34’s much faster.
I had a hard time hitting with the Kahr. I tried slow fire focusing on the front and it was dead on. Then dry fired and discovered something I hadn’t heard of. I was hitting high and right, with my right hand?? With the small grip in my hands, and the long trigger pull, I pulled it up and rt at the very end.

I was at Battery Oaks on Saturday for lots of shooting and learning. Whoooo!

Today I went to Jim's and shot my (new to me) Rossi 971, and worked some more on trigger finger placement with the p238. Did pretty well! Not a lot of the usual low left. Lots of hits in the red oval.

All told, a really good couple of days of shooting! Go to Battery Oaks if you get an invite! You'll love it.....

Came back from beach after the get together this past Saturday. @Toprudder want me to come back so I could shoot my....... I mean his 460. The only gun I try to forget to give back to him. Somehow he always manages to get that bag first. Brought some test loads but only shot the Shiloh Sharps with newly installed vintage scope. It was a learning experience for me and @Toprudder was a big help. But don't tell him cause his head will swell. Now I am loading up 50 more rounds to stretch her legs a little longer.

Went out with my Canik TP9SF. I ran 200 rounds of aluminum case 115 grain Federal. Like poop through a goose. Now at 1068 rounds and I still need to put a couple hundred rounds of steel case before I'll be happy happy. I doubt there will be any problems. There I said it. I'm not superstitious at all.

I installed a Lasersaddle and OpSol MiniClip on my Shockwave. It ran 40 rounds of Aguilla minislugs flawlessly. I'm starting to like that thing!
