Did You Go Shooting Today

I went and shot the 9mm, but I might have put .380 in it, it had problems. Lol. (A range guy asked to look at it and found some .380 mixed in with the 9mm I had loose in the carrying case.)
After about 3 rounds, I stopped and went to my p238, which ate up about 5 boxes, and worked perfectly. I'm getting better shooting with it.

So, I guess .380 can be shot through a 9mm, but the gun's not going to be happy about it. LOL. I have no idea how the two got mixed up.

I'll be happy to get to shooting a .45, so I can just take one gun and one ammo to the range for a while.....

Don't do too well, I'm trying it soon.
I got him once yesterday with a Glock 17 and once with a Glock 23. But he got me many more times. You don't have to worry about me doing too well

While there is 400,000+ people in downtown Savannah at the St. PAtrick's Day Parade, I decided to head in the opposite direction to the range. Friend called and said that he would goot too. Last 2 or 3 times I have driven to the range so he decided that he would drive this time. I grabbed 3 pistols and 2 rifles and a few targets. Roger (friend) said that he found an old article on a Colt Woodsman and would love to shoot one.
The pistol that I grabbed was a S&W 22A (I have alway had problems with this gun cycling), S&W 629 and yes a Colt Woodsman. The 2 rifles were a Ruger 10//22 and a Rossi 92 44 mag 16".
Remember that I said that my friend would drive? Well, I left the ammo in my truck. On the way to the range I had to stop at Walmart and get some 22s but was not going to spend $35 for 44 mag.
Now for the report: The 22A still has a problem cycling. The Colt Woodsman has not been out of the safe or shoot in over 15 years and was dry. The Ruger 10/22 ran without a single problem.
The 22A has been back to S&W once but I am thinking about seeing if Wolff has a set of spring for the gun. Any other suggestions? Not sure that I have ever cleaned the Woodsman. Time for a Youtube video and back in the safe for another 15 years.

My range got a couple of new skeet throwers and today was the orientation. So 50 rounds of 12-gauge through the Remington 1100. All the birds I shot at broke but it was mostly because they hit the groundo_O

I've never done any kind of timed anything, except when Billy wanted us to shoot when we heard the beep to see what our reaction times were. Mine was (I think) .32 sec.....not brilliant. LOL. But I have to start doing things like the Wizard, just to see if I can.
What kind of time is a decent time on that?

2.5 seconds on each of the 4 stages.

Another box of .38 in my quest. Actually hit a bowling pin today.

#1 son and I took a Ruger Redhawk (.44mag) and a Colt Trooper Mk III to the backyard range and massaged our shooting hands for a while. I did not shoot my usual daily 50+ rounds from either, btw. So, I owe myself a few extra squeezes tomorrow ... unless that is, I take the 12ga over for a romp. ;)

REMEMBER....only the first time counts....after that it's just practice.
Understand completely. Have spent most of my life shooting small targets from far away. Just started racing the clock about 8 years ago. Started coming out of holster against the clock 5 days ago. I've got a lot of work ( fun ) in front of me.

Went to my range today, shot steel with my new to me Marlin 981T and the S&W 22A, and both shot well
The BBQ place in Wagram is open again, when you and your Mrs. decide to travel to the gun store again for some drooling/fondling! Lol.

Took a Rem 700’s out to sight in their scopes. Had the added pleasure of using my Timney CE trigger for the first time....any apprehension about the trigger pull weight went out the window. Instant fan at the preset 1.5lb.

Took my oldest daughter to FLD to shoot ta M&P22, M&P 9 Pro and a EMP 4. Paul had just painted the steel targets, so it was great with the immediate feedback. Now I need to find someone with a Glock 43 and 48 so she can shoot them. Once she settles on a platform, we will start attending the IDPA matches at H2O

Then we went to do some drills with the AR pistol at the 100 yd range (on the 25 yd section) but it was packed, so we called it a day

@Millie came to Battery Oaks today. Millie has been doing some shooting and and is showing a lot of improvement.
She is shooting 1911s in both 9mm and 45. Here are some pictures of her targets. And, most of these are done shooting with one hand. Some mighty fine grouping.

Millie started out shooting and she was grouping very well but all her groups were to the left. A simple drift of the rear sight and she was right on the money.

Thanks so much for showing these Ole Pard. She did great. She has obviously had some talented help since she was here last. Talented help or not it was her dedication to learning to shoot that should be applauded. It's a shame somebody didn't adjust her sights for her sooner. The smile on her face when her groups went to center was fulfilling for this old sight slammer. I am satisfied she has the Skills to protect herself. Now for the real training.

I went shooting in real style, at Battery Oaks, and had a wonderful time!

I heard all kinds of ringing and gonging steel, and we even got treated to an exploding canister, courtesy of Ronnie Sue! It was quite a sight/sound/spectacle!

The sights on the 9mm got sorted out by Billy, and now I can shoot. I have a new borrowed .45 to put into my range rotation, and it's going to get a workout! Thank you again, Billy.
(Starting in the morning.)

I did do the Wizard, but not on a timer....yet. But I sort of got a taste for what it might be like to do it. Maybe next time.

And thanks for adjusting the sights for the way my oddball eyes/head work!
What kind of training have you got in mind now? What shall I work on, besides not "snatching" the trigger....lol. Now that I'm aware of what I was doing, I can work on not doing it.

I told her that a week or so ago. Glad somebody thinks the way I do
She was shooting some fine groups. And, they were all consistently to the left. @BatteryOaksBilly took the adjustment hammer to the rear sight and she was instantly shooting to point of aim.

I'm just glad they were mostly only left, and I've pretty much sorted out the low left problem....whew.

I went to the range and tried to work out the .45 1911 so graciously loaned by Billy. It had a few issues, and I had to give up after about 3 magazines. (My hands were all torn up from various gun-related things, so I probably should have stayed the heck home today.) I'll give it another go on Wednesday or Thursday. I'm going to break that thing in somehow!

Also shot 100 rounds in the 9mm 1911, which did perfectly today, after 150 rounds yesterday at Battery Oaks, where it also did perfectly. This gun is a complete mystery to me, but it seems to be ok....LOL.
