Did You Go Shooting Today

Spent a great day (again) at Battery Oaks, shot quite a few new guns, found a possible/probable new carry gun, and shot a rifle with a red dot.

I tried the Wizard, on the timer, didn't ask what the time was, just wanted/needed to do it. One day Billy will tell me how I did, and that's good enough for me.

As usual, I learned a huge amount (pretty much had my own private tutor...lol...) about shooting and about myself.

Another trip to TSA during lunch yesterday, with a couple of friends from work. I only took two guns (Browning HP and CZ 75B) and 100 rounds of 9mm. My one friend liked his Jericho 941 so much, and knowing it was a copy of a Tanfoglio Witness, he bought a steel frame Witness to go with it. And since both of those are essentially copies of a CZ 75, I thought I would let him shoot mine. He liked it. He is now shopping for a CZ 75.

I'm becoming known as a bad influence at work. :D

Drifted the rear sight a smidge and replaced the recoil spring in a Fusion 9mm 1911. Headed to the range to see where the BBs go and how it ejects now.

I did! First range day with the new Glock 19, 390 rounds, pretty good shooting (for me) with an unfamiliar gun! It was a good day at the range.

(Loving the G19...which was the gun I wanted to end up with 8+ months ago when I was searching for a 9mm carry gun.....)

It would have really helped when I arrived at the range after a 30 minute drive if said pistol had actually been in my range bag. o_O

On the bright side, it was beautiful morning for a drive.

Group Pics!!! We wanna see 7 yard group pics with that awesome shooting machine..!!

Sorry, there are no pics. All the friends and relatives had to try the guns and made swiss cheeses of my targets. Next trip will be alone time and I will post some pics, maybe?

Let's see... The Missouri Compromise was in 1820... Montana became a State in 1889 and March 5, 1942 is the birthday of the Seabees so... A long time ago.

The new, to me, CZ 97 and I are heading out in a bit. Can't wait!
My wife's favorite range gun is her CZ 97. I think you will enjoy it.

FWIW, I also have a steel-frame Witness 45 that can use the same mags, so if you need more mags that will be an option.

Yes.. That would be awesome!

So I made it BACK to the range today after drifting the rear sight for windage. It's right on the money now, but I'm shooting low with this gun. I checked Dawson's sight math calculator and they say I need a shorter front sight, so I ordered one.

Yes!
Went today to do one-handed shooting w/ the G19. Not as easy as with the 1911, but I'll keep at it.
Still trying to figure out the sights on this gun, may need adjusting a teeny bit for my oddball eyes. May paint the front one red like with my other guns. I seem to pick it up better in red.

Finally finished the “break-in” of my Dan Wesson Vigil Commander today. It only had 1 failure to return to battery on the first mag, then was great for 200rds or so.

Also have even buying too many guns lately so shot for the the first time today, a used S&w 642 I just picked up for $250 and a Wilson Combat Beretta Brig Tac 92G that I picked up for a lot more than $250...

Moved optics, iron sights around on couple ARs so rezero'd this morning and couple rounds of 9mm at some steel plates. Did instruct a Army doctor on the firing of a RPD light machine gun.

Went to the range today to try some more 300 BO rounds and the CZ 75 that a friend dropped off.
The CZ 75 shot great except it was about 4" low at 15 yards. The sights are not the best as far as coloring goes. Also, this was the firs time wearing the new shooting glasses.

Next was the pistol 300 BO with 3 different loads. First 2 were using the Missouri 215 grn flat point bullets. I was using close to max loads with AA 1680. Had a problem with the bullets being too short. The flat nose was hitting the bottom of the feed ramp and either getting stuck there or was forced up above the chamber. When I did get one to chamber I had no problem with the bolt getting locked back. Next, I shot 35 rounds of 168 sp bullets without a problem. Got the red dot close to zeroed 25 yards. Then moved out to 50 and everything was High 3" and left 1". Ran out of bullets.

QUESTION: would you adjust the red dot to impact, up 3" and left 1 or down 3" and right 1". I adjust the scope to impact but this red dot seem to be working backwards.
