Did You Go Shooting Today

One shot of 22LR from the suppressed RAR.

Went to the range today, 150 rounds in the Glock. Groups are a bit tighter, but I still have a tendency to shoot left, with the occasional low left thrown in to make me extra annoyed! But any time at the range is a good time.

Drift the sight.

Yes! Got my personal Springfield 1911 .45 out of layaway at last and shot 50 rounds in it.....so nice! Very little recoil, nice big boom, and a really nice trigger! Oh, and an adjustable rear sight, which I haven't really explored yet.

Also gave the G19 about 100 rounds. Still figuring the sights out on that one, and of course I was way more accurate with the 1911, as I tend to be.

My shooting buddy for the day tried them both and loved them both....Of course, he's one of those guys who can pick up a gun he's never shot before and do really well with it. So annoying! Lol. (I think he'll be getting a Glock and a 1911 .45 eventually.)

Today was a good day with a buddy at the range!

Came in a few minutes ago. Old bear is here in the Bunk House and we were clanging some steel. He was shooting a 2 1/2 S&W 66 and me a 3 inch 65. Shooting these guns makes for Big fun on the range. I shot 4 outta six head shots at 50 yards double action with the 65 and wad cutters. I have Never seen a K Frame S&W that didn't shoot directly to it's fixed sights with this ammo. Of course I realize they would be Totally useless as a self defense handgun.:):p:D

Got some trigger time in today.

Ran drills on paper at 10 and 15 yards, and steel at 40 and 100 yards.

Went to H2O earlier...boy it was hot out. Shot about 200 rds thru my 1911, LCR, SP101, Shield and my Taurus. Was using Freedom Munitions 115 gr.....had one fte from my Taurus which I didn't like because that is my EDC but was probably the ammo.....first hickup I have had with it and have about 500 rds thru it. Ran a few mags of Critical Defense through the Shield and the Taurus with no problems. The 1911 in 9mm is such a sweet shooter. Had a great time but glad to be back in the AC.

My daughter and her family are in for the weekend and she has never been shooting with me. Really only shot 1 time in her life (34). We started out with the Browning Buckmark. When I was setting up the targets, after the first staple, the staple gun broke. So I setup a bowling pin and tennis ball on the berm at 25 yards. Hitting the bowling pin did not move it at all so she went to the tennis ball. I told her to hold the red dot on the tennis ball and she was hitting it 75% of the time. Then I put a golf ball out and she hit it 4 times with 20 rounds from a sitting rest.
Next to the rifle range with the Ruger 10/22. I used another shooters staple gun and setup a target at 50 yards and the first 10 shots in center mass was maybe a 6" group. The next 10 shots I gave her a rear stock rest and told her to shoot at the red area in the head. Her grouping went from 6" to maybe less than 2".
I also brought the 204 Ruger so we headed to the 500 yard range and I setup the scope for 300 yards instead of 200 yards (1st row of targets). The first 2 shots were right over the 8" steel. Readjusted the scope and 3rd shot hit. By this time it was time to get back home.

GOOD RANGE DAY

Took lots of guns and ammo to the range yesterday. PKM, RPD machine guns, vz58 and Mk18 Mod 0 assault rifles, Khyber Pass SMLE and 12 ga pistol. Gave instructions on all of those but only got to shoot 1 mag out of my G19. Full day today with Mk44 Minigun (3000 rds), Mk47 40mm automatic grenade launcher, PRG-7s, grenades and C4. Looking forward to shooting the RPG since I haven't fired one since Bright Star 85' in Egypt.

Getting stuff together for a range day today, Taking out the G34 and G20, going to run a bunch of live fire drills. Hoping to validate my index with DPP on the G34. Taking time off from the dot and then coming back I would loose the dot a bit, this dot thing takes more practice to stay sharp then using irons.

I was doing good, having fun, but forgot to get more mole skin for my finger. After about 400 rounds, glock finger reared it's head, I tried to keep going but I popped the blister and it really started to hurt.

Never heard of "Glock finger"....do tell.

The glock trigger guard will rub on the your middle finger, just in front of the second knuckle, causing a blister. If you shoot a couple times a week, it will develop into a callus. A lot of people will send off to have the trigger guard undercut, this helps a lot.

I never noticed anything like that, thanks for the info.

Yep. Youngest and I took a Gen 5 G17, a P320 FS, a P320 Compact and a FN 509 to FLD today. She loved the G17 and 509 while I really liked both 320s (both have the Apex Enhanced Flat triggers and trigger bars, so not a fair comparison). I have never been a Glock fan but the 17 was a nice shooter. Might need to look at a gen 5 19 next.
