Did You Go Shooting Today

Packing up for a range day on Sunday. Trying to decided what to take. I put a new scope on a bolt action CZ 223 so I figure that is number 1 on the list. Next up is the 6.5 CM for the long range. Have not shot a leveler action in close to a year so thinking the Marlin 1895 45/70 and 30-30 for rifles. For handguns, a S&W Model 60, 640 (those never get shot) and Walther PPQ (just put a set of TruGlo sights on it).

Packed up around 11 today with a couple of changes from last night post. While in the safe pulling guns, I decided that I did not want to chase brass all day so we made it a 38 caliber day except for the PPQ. 2 x 66s, 640, 642 and 60. All were shot except the 66 - 5". The 642 and 640 shot the way I expected. Really thought that the 66 - 2 3/4 would shoot better with 38 was cutters. Now the Model 60 was like a dream come true. The single and double action might be the best revolver that I have. It was really more pleasant to shoot than the 66.
The PPQ was shooting about 4 to 5 inches low at 12 yards. Not sure if it was the trifocals glasses or what.
Stepped to the 100 yard rifle range next door to sight in the 223 bolt action. 100 yards the best I could get was 1.5 MOA. Pulled the 45-70 out and the rear sight is at the highest point and at 50 yards it was about 4 inches low. 100 yards about 8 inches low.
Packed up and went to the 525 rifle range with the 6.5 CM. These were loaded at 2,700 ft/sec. One shot in each steel starting at 200 yards out to 525 yards. Did not miss one time. I was using RL-17 with these loads under a 140 Hornady ELD. Place a couple hits on the 525 with in a 4 inches of each other. VERY HAPPY.

I tried!
A few weeks ago I swear I heard one of the guys telling another of the guys that they were now open Sundays from 1-6pm!
I drove over there after a meeting, and guess what? Closed!
I know I'm a bit of a ditz, but surely I wasn't hearing things?

Went to @Jeppo's on a gorgeous day, and I shot about 450 out of my beretta 92D, and about 300 out of my P99 both in 9mm and 150 .40 out of the P229 since I have no 357Sig target ammo at the moment. And Ol Jeppo shot a few hundred out of his VP9sk.

Glad someone got to go and blow stuff away on a lovely "winter" day!

Went and did a little practicing. Reasonably ok. Broke a TRS so the G17 got a detail clean and inspection.

1911 ran well, may be up to competing with.

Does this count?

I shot the breeze for quite a spell this afternoon with @svtf150 and his better half. That was my kind of shooting!
That explains it. You two were together and were causing all that wind down this way.

Shot a few mags of PPQ 9mm. Then went back to the A1 build with the 22lr conversion kit in it. It started getting dark and I realized how freaking hard it is to see AR irons in low light - especially against a black target.
So then it got dark and I packed up... and suddenly i realized that my ppq has tritium sights and a streamlight tlr4 light/laser - but i've never actually shot it in the dark!
So I loaded one more magazine and flashed the light, took a few steps and shot, flashed the light took a few steps and shot, etc.

My 13 yo has never shown any interest in shooting, but I ALWAYS ask before heading out. Last week, he said he wanted to go! So we loaded up and spent an hour or so plinking.

A couple days ago he asked to go again, so we made a plan for today.

Rang the gong at 100yd with a .22 bolt gun, the and the 350yd with a .223 - his first shots with centerfire.

But we had the most fun in the pistol bays with the 4.5” AR-22 w/Specter II. We blew through 590 rounds as fast as I could load magazines.

thanks to @VOD Tactical for the awesome venue!

Went to Frontline today with a couple of friends. I had a new-to-me Thompson (semi-auto 1927A1) that ran flawlessly, put about 100 rounds through it. Also took a Desert Eagle 50 for my friend to shoot, we each put 5 rounds through it. :) I had some 9mm test loads that I shot from a Witness Elite so I could chrono them. One friend had an AR he needed to adjust his sights, and also a couple of 9mm pistols. The other friend had a nice Henry rifle in 45 colt that was a really sweet shooter. He also had a top-break 45 revolver (forget the brand). And I got to keep all of their brass. :)

Yeah, I confess, I pinned them both in at the bookshelves, stood between them and the door, and unleashed the infamous Taylor's Tsunami Torrent of Text on them. (In my defense, we were talking books ... mostly.)

My wife distracted me finally, and they both bolted for the door.

At least that's the way I'm telling it. :D (@svtf150 is on the road all week, so there's no one here to contradict anything I say. The story may get worse as the week goes on.)

Ah yes, But I ain't left yet!
I won't dispute it as a fairly accurate account except you meant to say your wife rescued you!! :)

Dear Mods,

Someone has hacked @svtf150 's account and is spreading falsehoods impugning my dishonor. I demand satisfaction!

Pretty much finished setting up a range out to 100 yards at me & my father’s property. Went out today for the first time. Shot a few hundred through a new Kalashnikov USA KP9. Another 100 through a new Sig P365 SAS. One box through a new to me Glock 20 that I added a KKM barrel, 22 lb recoil spring, and Trijicon sights to. Dad shot a couple mags through the Sig and Glock. He was smiling after the Glock:):):). He hadn’t even heard of a 10mm. I had zero malfunctions from any of the three. 70 degrees in February and spent time with the old man. Life is good!

Shot my newish to me S&W 3914DAO. First time shooting a double action only Smith semi. Maybe the year spent with revolvers helped. I was actually able to make steel music. :)

Finally put some rounds through the 44mag Desert Eagle. It was a riot to shoot. Ran maybe 35 or 40 rounds with just one return to battery malfunction.

Also put 50 rounds through my pos ATI 9mm 1911. It's finicky about bullet length & loves to fail to extract.

I really like my DE 44, a first gen made around ‘86. More pleasant to shoot than a 50.

I had a nice 1911 day with a new friend.
50 rounds of .45, and close to 100 of 9mm, with only one "issue" with the 9mm....lol.
Any issues with the new friend?

No, actually he seems very nice...and young! Just how I like 'em!
My idea of a dream first date...

"What time would you like to meet? And, by the way, I'm bringing two loaded guns".

I took another friend shooting today. We shot the 1911s in 9mm and .45, then gave the G19 a bit of a workout.

My friend loved the 1911s, but he really loved the Glock! I think he'll be buying one when tax money comes back.

The last couple of shooting days have been about letting my friends shoot my guns, and me not worrying about getting "pretty groups." Just having fun, listening to the big bangs, feeling the recoil, and watching fire shoot out the ends of the guns! LoL. + Smelling the gunpowder smoke, lovely scent! lol.
(The G19 had the best fireballs today!)

Not
thinking can be fun sometimes!

I had a 9mm day at the range in some serious wind. I had no failures with a Kimber, a Springfield, and a Colt, but the Colt had fairly nonuniform ejection. I suppose I need to do some tinkering with the extractor. I also shot my 365 with no issues except for getting a sore trigger finger after several magazines. It was a delightful day.

Shot a local highpower match (100yd reduced) at Meck Wildlife yesterday. Chilly and gray morning, but we had a lot of fun. Ended the match on strong note, shooting a 200-9X (20 shots slow fire prone)! Target is an NRA MR-31 (600yd reduced to 100yd). Was shooting Sierra 52gr MK over 24.6gr WC844 pulldown powder

Shot with 2 friends at my place. We shot the wizard and my first shot landed percentage took a nosedive [emoji2]
My friend killed the wizard on his 2nd attempt. He has a high first shot landed percentage but after that it nosedived so we are the exact opposite.

Then we found out my other friend has not just one but 2 bad Aimpoint pros on 2 different rifles. Couldnt get it on paper at 10 yards! Then we tried a cheap TRS25 on my 7.5" pistol and it shot lights out

Love the "be kind" shirt!

Spent a couple hours at Woody's today. Took my SW 1006, Browning High Power, Ruger flat top .44 special and a FEG High Power with a .22 kit on it. Long arms were a 870 riot gun, M1 carbine, and a Remington 760 carbine in .30-06. I was glad that I had a wearable recoil pad for the two Remingtons! A fun day but then spent a couple hours cleaning everything and putting the stuff away.
