Maybe I've just not been paying attention.

Maybe there are threads and articles upon threads and articles.....

But the federal government changed the law to make tobacco purchases legal only after age 21???

I missed it..

WTF?!???

So now a newly minted 18 yo can willingly sign up for military service. Said 18 yo is also able to decide the future of our country (vote).

But they can no longer legally purchase a tobacco product??

I'm personally a first year millenial (84' and i hate I'm lumped in there) but the hell is this??

Hell, back in the day, i was getting my dads chewing tobacco as soon as i could drive to the store for him... (age 16)

This new federal law means nothing to me, but again. WHUT???

Drinking age used to be 18 also... freaking government can ruin a wet dream.

Ehh.. doeent bother me.. ex smoker. 11 years pack plus a day. Heart attack says, that sh*tll kill ya.

They want to lower the age to vote to 16,get an abortion at 14yo, raise any gun ownership to 21, raise tobacoo now to 21. Your either an adult at one age or not. Needs to be challenged in court unfortunately.

CD

They cant make up their minds on when you are an adult and capable of making decisions on your own. Should be the same across the board in my mind..if you can die for your country you should be able to vote to pick its leaders, have a beer, etc.

Then again I look at the idiocy of kids today and then question myself.. holy crap, were we that dumb? Or is it a societal shift or maybe lesser education given today?

I don't see how the Constitution of the United States gives the Federal Government the power to do this. Wasn't the 10th Amendment supposed to ensure this stayed with the States? It's not just the 2A that gets stomped on these days, and an ignorant and distracted populace that no longer values their freedom allows it to happen.

There needs to be a clear and definitive age of emancipation. Period. None of this piece meal crap.

Beer was a quarter, mixed drinks fifty cents, a carton of cigarettes was $2.50. If you could crawl through the door you got served and could sit at the table and smoke all you wanted. No ID checked. Of course this was 1966 at the Enlisted Club at Chu Lai, Vietnam. Came home and got kicked out of the bar/lounge at San Fran airport when they carded me and saw I was only 20. Seven of us together - IN UNIFORM- just back from across the Pond and they carded ME!!! But back then I looked like I was 14 anyway.

Gonna tell some 20 year old Lance, you sent to Helmand, that he can’t pack Cope in his lip or fire up a Camel?

F’ yall and your nanny state:mad:
