Disappointment

Once a community of known individuals is involved, the waters become grayer that the "it's free market or socialism" argument. Selling for current market value on its face is fine. Poor mouthing for free or cheap primers only to turn around and sell them is piss poor form.

Flippers have all but ruined a hobby I previously enjoyed, collecting pocket knives. Now special editions are released while desk warriors snatch up their limits within minutes of being listed using every known family member's address to hoard a product only to flip it on BF or Ebay. They'll have photos from the dealer listing up on Ebay before they even have the damn knife. Those of us that actually work have zero recourse to actually purchase said knives at the release time. Is that their right? Sure. Are they CSers taking advantage of a limited market for their own callous greed? I think so.

I'm sure first-world issues like this will eventually be a distant memory as this country keeps sliding down the greased funnel it's been pushed into.

But it is simply what it is. There are members here I would give ammo to, should they actually need it. At what point does empathy, general humanity, and camaraderie intermingle with the free market? I'm sure we all have our own metrics.

BTW-
While I prefer to get a gun in trade, I am one of those sorry bastardos with his Primer Gold and his 22LR Ammo Gold at the $100 price
point per brick of product. I shoot more than is normal, therefore I maintain a higher level of ammo and reloading products than most. Whether I was the original Target, feel “Catholic Guilt” or don’t really care is immaterial. That $$ sign means that as a temporary retailer, just like LOWES Grocery, when my material is shunned due to a high price, I either lower the price, or pull it from the shelf and put it back in storage, awaiting the next end of the Republic, when another buttload of self-righteous goofballs will be up in arms without ammo, and expect me to sell them a case of Midas+ for $55. Whaddya going to do, call Ghostbusters, or cry to Mommy? Ban yourself for being out of touch with reality. We do Not live in Britain, Venezuela or Iran. Not YET. If the Socialists come for you, remind them what a friggin righteous person you are, right before they use your own ammo on you. In the meantime, trade me a pristine Colt or S&W at 2019 Wholesale your gun to my goods. We will both WIN, unlike the Donald.

For 15 years we have prided ourselves with Everything here being FREE.
We have guns of most every platform available for all to try before you go home and buy. We like to think over the years our range has evolved to the best in Horry. This has happened with the help of about 6 people who dedicated their time, resources and fabrication abilities to make range props. All is free to "invited" guests. We are PRIVATE, we don't have Members or rent range time...all is FREE.
Sadly, this is no longer the case...ammo will No Longer be FREE...all else will remain the same BUT we just can't continue our support of FREE ammo. We always seem to have enough on gathering days for all to shoot..due to others generosity. I have personally seen "visitors" take advantage of even this. It seems some folks shoot alot more with other folks ammo than their own. THAT is between them.
The Good news is ALL else including Cakes, Pies and Ice Cream are still FREE. These other things will remain unchanged....as long as I am Alive and as long as the impending Doom of new houses and whining Yankees don't drive us further back on the property. So far.....only whining.
Sooooooooooo.....come while you can and all is FREE [except ammo]!

I can’t believe what they are charging for houses in Raleigh. Just plain ripping people off. It’s not fair.
Can one of you decent honest fellas sell me your house for what it was worth five years ago?
I promise I won’t turn around and sell it for what it’s actually worth the day after screwing y... cough... I mean buying your house from you for a fair price.

Sorry but this whole concept is so dumb.

Everyone enjoys being a capitalist until it’s time to do capitalist stuff.

If I posted up a beat up Mosin Nagant for $500 and someone bought it from me, then it wasn’t over priced. It was over priced >for you<.
The wife and I are now in the process of house hunting. I have never once walked into a house and said “this is unfair that they won’t sell me this house for what I am willing to pay.”

And why disappointed? Did you somehow think that an Internet gun forum that you happen to sign up for will magically get you pre-panic prices on things?

With that said, I am 99.9% certain that if I had a need, an actual legit >need< for anything from one round of .22 to a full on long range target set up that someone here would lend/give me one. And it’s not because of some magical thing that happens when you click “join”, it comes from years of getting to know people, being a part of the community, giving of oneself, and not being an overly raging turd, at least on a constant basis.

But I absolutely don’t expect anyone to cater to my >wants< in such a way that puts them at any disadvantage.

When I'm standing in a gun store and hear the owner on the phone offering $750 per thousand for 223 ammo, it gets my attention. When he gets TURNED DOWN, it shows me that it's going to cost me through the nose to replace anything I sell.
I'm trying to start reloading at the worst time possible. I'll buy primers, components and equipment at whatever price I decide to pay.
I had YEARS to buy reloading supplies and I didn't.
Disappointed, yes I am. I'm disappointed in myself for not preparing for what we all knew was coming. You won't find me bitching about others not giving me their stuff at below market value. Most of us can't afford to leave money on the table.
I'd think it would be appreciated when a member lets go of anything they have when there is no way to be sure when or if they can replace it.

I started gathering my reloading equipment and supplies 4 years ago. I sadly didn't aquire enough and didn't make it enough of a priority to have everything I need. But I am still working on it. Prices be damned. I did however by enough primers, mainly cause I didn't know what I needed. I was also able to give some to another forum member who was trying to start loading some rounds. He offered to buy them. I asked him how many he thought he needed and gave them to him. Karma is a fickle ***** and may or may not come back around.

Planning ahead is a good [profitable] thing

So what were you doing while obama [before, during, after] was the potus?
NOW is NOT the time to start reloading🤬
I don't know why people are crabbing about this, unless they were born yesterday. I guess there were other thing that needed $$$$ spent on them other then reloading stuff [PRIMERS]. If they have to overpay well it's not.........................................fill in the blank.

Since we opened this can of worms it does bother me a little when I see things for sale that I would be embarrassed or feel guilty to sell to other CFF members. I would put it in the FREE STUFF section. I mean when you see items listed for $10 or $15 (OBO?) you must be either in dire financial straits or are just looking for a fast hustle. JMO...

Side rant: this gets me to. We are trying to prepare to move within the next year and I look around at all our stuff and people have said “you should have a yard sale!” And I’m like “if I sold everything we want to get rid off, I’d be surprised if it was more than $500 bucks. I’d be far happier to donate it all, take the $500 tax write off, and not have to deal with the headache of a yard sale.”

You could buy an AR upper!

Eventually people will stop buying at the high mark ups and then the prices will come back down. I will hold off on buying some items if they are not essential. Some things you have to have and some you don't.
I only hope that the people trying to buy up everything and sell it for a big profit gets stuck with it as prices come back down and then they cannot get their money back. I am all for people making money but it should be a true value not inflated because others cannot get to it.
I believe in KARMA.

Bro, that’s a full mag of ammo!

For a glock 43.

This has always struck me as a little odd myself...Last week a member here sent Over $200 worth of supplies to us. Another gave us an ammo donation in '19 that we are still doling out. Tomorrow, folks are bringing food for the gathering that saves us $$$s of dollars.
Selling a $10 item is odd..........................................................to me.

Let's just say I have some stuff that I don't want to sell.......but then someone comes along and is willing to pay an outrageous amount of $$$$$$$$ for my stuff, suddenly I am more open to the idea of maybe parting with some of it.
