Dixie Gun and Knife Show August 5 and 6th- Raleigh NC

Actually, when the gun show is inside the Jim Graham building, there is a rather nice cafeteria. I usually eat there when I am at the show.

When the C&E show is inside the smaller Expo building, that is where the over priced hotdogs are served. I leave the show and go eat somewhere else.

Maybe. I'm thinking of heading to FLD in the morning, I have some test loads sitting on the shelf that are beckoning. I can get to FLD early and then head back in time for lunch. I'll let you know.

Oh hell. I gotz to go now!

Bring some of that big "IT" money you were throwing around in the other thread.

Did you print your coupons? I had to go into the office to print some up, needed extras for the entourage that seems to be following me.

You talking about the double toll money? Cuz, yeah... that sucks.

Well, I may not make it either day.

My son is coming over today to help with stuff around the house, grilling out, sitting & drinking a bit by a fire.

Sunday probably going to FLD to pick up a new scope for my .308 and then shoot some.

Guess it'll be the winter show for me.

I *think* the next one is in Nov and all the hunters will be there :)

Toprudder and I enjoyed some good greasy lunch at the cafeteria. I found a cheap mutt of a Marlin Papoose which'll be my next suppressor host, and my favorite Aguila 40g subs for 31$/500.

It's always an entertaining zoo!

I am Thinking I'm gonna go by tomorrow. Any good deals/prices that stood out?

There was a keltec sub2k that used glock mags in 9mm for.... $369! Saw a few for $400, a few for $425 but one dude toward the left side as you enter had a cheap one. Looked new.

Wait, you're saying saving $1 with the coupon isn't worth $4.50 in tolls? Dammit.

Spent a lot of time at the show, and walked out with some cheese... Blame @Sneakymedic , he got some and I tried it and then went back to get some for myself. The wife thinks I've lost my mind. Quite possible. Gun show cheese...

My wife Nancy agrees with yours.

saw food trucks in the flea market area on way in....

thought crown was a bit light, missing few vendors IMHO, and so glad to hear the thief was caught...
they should have done the walk of shame thru the crown in cuffs.........

Was that the announcement warning everyone not to buy a Glock .40 'cause it was stolen? How did they nab the cretin?

There were actually 3 guns stolen yesterday. From what I heard of vendors talking, it was the same guy for all three. Guy was caught and guns recovered.

I do wonder if they just gave the guns back to the vendors or if they will be held for years in evidence lockers.

Thankfully, the guns were returned to the vendors after the police got statements from them and filled out other assorted legal paperwork.

The thief got nabbed because the third dealer he hit saw it happen. Said dealer couldn't catch the guy but was able to give a good description to the police, who found the thief outside the building. They followed him to his car before arresting him and found the first two guns in the trunk. Had the thief not gotten greedy he wouldn't have been caught.

Had he not been a criminal, he'd not have been caught.

I think I saw this as I was entering the building. Lower part of the parking lot had two cops talking to someone. I thought it a bit odd, that maybe they were trying to sting a 'no parking lot sales'. Glad they got him and darn surprised it happened.

That was it.

Update on this, suspect in court this week, he is acting Pro See, representing himself. "He has a fool for a lawyer".

From what I heard, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on all counts this afternoon after no more than 40 minutes of deliberation. His sentence was 49-87 months total, minus time served, which is around a year, I think. That is with CONSECUTIVE sentencing. Works out to less than two years per gun stolen. Seems pretty light for someone who is already a habitual felon.

Well, he does need to get out to vote....

Just found out today the guilty verdicts came after only 15 minutes of deliberation. Previously, the time frame I had been given included instructions to the jury, which must have last about 20 minutes.

Talk about a fast conviction.
