Worked on my daughters quilts today. Used the green mil sleep system bag as the base. Trimmed and edges finished with ribbon.

First up the underquilt. First attempt was leaving the foot box intact. No good. Split that and came up with this. Using a line and Prussic for tension. Added some bungee to the head to bunch it up after this pic.

Trimmed the over quilt to fit her better. Cut the length and trimmed the edges. Left the foot box intact. The pic is without the edges finished.

Both quilts and stuff sack come in at about 3.2 lbs and should be good to 30 degrees.

I already have a PLUQ for my under quilt and I’ll be building a top quilt soon. I’m expecting my system to be even lighter. But I sleep warmer than she does.

Well worth doing, Chief! The key to the UQ is to get a good fit, so there are no places where cold air can sneak in over the edge and get down inside.

Yeah, I stitched on some tabs last night to bunch the head area up. It rode right at the top edge of the hammock for me. And I trimmed this one down a bit. If I make a UQ specifically for me I'm not going to trim it down until I test it. I think it will be fine for my daughter but I could use just a little more room. But it fits much better than the one I used on our trip. I could not get a good diagonal that UQ was so tight. At least this one has more room.

Trick is to make it fit the person inside, who is laying on a diagonal.

The one I used was off Amazon. A lot of those seem to be the banana shaped ones. That’s fine if you lay straight I guess. Not sure which was worse, not being able to lay diagonal or feeling like my shoulders were being squeezed. At least I learned that lesson for free.
