Does anyone have a template for a Last Will and Testament? I want to do a simple one, but everything on the internet I've found wants me to sign up for something.

Thanks in advance.

Don't do it, it's too easy for someone to contest a DIY and put your estate in a tailspin. Pay an attorney 200.00 and safeguard yourself and your heirs..

This.
Right.
Here.

I've seen it happen with an Uncles estate.
Some things are actually worth paying for.
This is one.

All kidding aside, you can also put most of your assets as joint custody so you can avoid probate court and keep your estate private,
same for bank accounts and brokerage accounts.

$200 up front today will save your estate ten times as much plus afterwards.

I also agree that the money paid to a lawyer in this case is well worth it.

If you go the DIY route, have three witness and a notary available. The will becomes self-proving, if witnessed and notarized correctly.

I also recommend this article https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/north-carolina-avoiding-probate-31904.html
and this book https://store.nolo.com/products/8-ways-to-avoid-probate-prav.html

If you can avoid probate, there is not much of a will to contest, if any. Beneficiary designations can be contested, but it's not easy.

Back to the attorney: guardianship and custody of children are not things that are effectively addressed in most DIY kits.

The above does not constitute legal advice, because I am not an attorney. These are facts that are easily obtainable by using The Google.
