66A3707E-F69E-44F4-84E9-07F3E96985D5.jpeg Dug two maples out with a mini excavator but this large one was close to the drive so I think I can suffer threw removing it this way. Nice and relaxing with drink in hand, shame it may take a few nights to get rid this 60” stump at the base.

I was told there would be tannerite. :(

Take a lot of tannerite for this one and I am kind of fond of the house that could be in the way of that experiment.

This, then:

After lots of limbs/ trash wood for stump and bourbon consumption watching I think once these go out it will be time to fill up the hole and plant some grass over it. Im sure it might require a fill in or two over the years when it finshes rotting but glad its gone.

If the roots remain they may sprout new growth. Mine did in places. The Crepe Myrtles were a nightmare for eliminating. You must get almost all the roots out.

Outstanding. Hate to see good wood go to waste. What size are you milling it to. I did a walnut log I got 2 years ago and had it done 5/4. Also saved a slad thick enuff for rifle stocks. Wish I had done some 6/4.

Crepe Myrtles are bad about sprouting but Pretty sure this one is a gone it was dead when I took it down and been year or two since with no signs of regrowth but if not Ill deal with it, but tearing out sycamore roots is not a little or easy job they are tough to tear threw they are so brittle and big and didn’t want to destroy the drive trying to dig it up. The last one we dug up 2/3 that size took a d6 dozer and a pretty good sized excavator to get out and still spent a while on it and had a huge hole to back fill.

Just sold it to him along with some other large ones off the farm for him to mill and do as he saw fit so it didn’t go to waste. We had one walnut and were going to try to get a rifle blank out of it but when it came down it cracked where the stock would have been best. Will have to try that some other time with diffrent one.

Better idea of what was left would have filled in already if not for rain. Highest point left will be about 6-8 inches below dirt so shouldn’t cause problems mowing and hopeful to get grass over it.
