I signed up for the June match. Was hoping for input on match from others that have competed, tips, squad with fellow CFF'ers etc...

I tried it once. It's a cop focused match ran by cops. So centered around some cop-type scenarios. Could be shooting out of car, etc.
Long guns loaded to "cruiser ready" (full mag, empty chamber). Sling for shotgun is a must have. They do a lot of shotgun slinging. Also, be comfortable holstering a hot pistol.
Seems to be one rifle stage. Can go out to 275 or so I think, but only a couple targets past 100 yards with most being inside 50.

I thought it was really cool and the guys that run it are friendly and helpful. Shooting with them makes me feel good that there are police who shoot this well, haha. And they have a good time.
A little less "gamer" than 3gun, and more leo tactical, if you will. Super fun and different than any other matches I have shot. I think you'll enjoy it.

Indeed, Sas squatch goes to them.

I attended one with @NKD
He's right, be ready for a lot of shotgun work. Other nonsanctioned matches that I have attended have had almost a 2 gun feel with shotgun as an afterthought. Not this one. Bring a long magazine tube on that shotgun.

I have a Remington Competition Tactical, but I was planning on bringing a Vepr 12 SBS with a modified choke, and 10 round mags.

Sounds like a good time, any chance you will be there @NKD

I'm not making the match next weekend (will be out for shoulder surgery) but I highly recommend it. It's the more IDPA-ish than USPSA for 3-gun. Lots of shotgun, lots of pistol. You'll need two full mags of .223 for the rifle stage. Rifle is limited because TruNorth only allows it on one stage, but they make up for it by either running a long stage, or two stages on the rifle bay. They discourage gaming (but I do a bit, because I'll use my 33-round fun stick sometimes), while the serious ones of them use retention holsters and pump shotguns and so forth. These guys are great with shotgun and rifle, but I usually beat them in pure pistol (as would many IDPA or USPSA shooters). As others said, they consider it 'training' so the scenarios are more practical than 'run between these pvc pipes' of other sports. A change this year is a new guy is doing stage design- and he's on the SWAT team. We had an interesting scenario last match where you had to shoot part of the stage, give yourself a tourniquet on your weak arm, and continue shooting.

Thanks for the info, good to know, best of luck on the shoulder surgery.

I posted a couple of times for the upcoming matches- search for NCPCPL.
Edit* Guess I'll leave Vepr home and use the Remington VersaMax comp/tac, as reloading is not likely a factor.

Likely not make it this month. I have to go to a match in PA the following week, so prob take that weekend off.
You might also consider making this 2gun match. It's pretty fun:

VersaMax will be perfect. I think an 8-9 round tube is plenty.

This is a cool match "pun intended" for a number of reasons. The match signup of from 8 to 9am with the match starting at 9am. They usually are winding up 12:30 to 1pm getting done before the heat of the day sets in. The shade from the trees between berms helps as well. They do consider this training and set the matches up to reflect this. They encourage anyone interested in shooting a non-traditional three gun match to come out and join in on the fun. First time shooters to this match are welcome and they are great about working with them. This match is held on the 3rd Saturday of each month at The Range @ True North in Oxford, NC and is a great opportunity to shoot with an awesome group of guys. Come out and join in on the fun while honing your skills.

I'm in. The only work shotgun I have is a 14" pump Mossberg 500, hope that will do.

What kind of long gun equipment is needed for this? What optic on a rifle and shotgun pump only?....

IMO, You need min.:
1. Rifle with iron sights or 1x optic (red dot), and a couple 30 round mags
2. Auto or pump shotgun, preferably with an 8-9 round tube.
3. Pistol with holster and 2 mag pouches (unless you want to reload out of pockets).

I used an AR with low power 1-4x24 variable scope, a Remington 1100, and a CZ 9mm pistol, personally.

Round count for tomorrow??? Buck or slugs needed for the shotgun??? Are there limitations for mag capacity of the rifle and pistol???? Thanks in advance.

Been awhile since I shot it, so maybe someone else will chime in.
But, I'd bring:
100 rounds of rifle. (prob use less than 60)
150 pistol
100 shotgun

From what I remember they do have certain mag limits per particular stage rules. But I use a 23 round mag for pistol, and load it per stage requirements. I do remember not loading to capacity before there I think. I would feel a Glock 17 mag, for example, would be appropriate and all you would need.

For rifle, I bring basic 30 rounders, and one 40 round. I don't remember high rifle capacity even being an issue. As the rifle stage I shot could be done with a 30 easily. So capacity isn't going to be much of an advantage it seems.

Edit: And good luck!
