Do you trust QD swivel rings for sling attachment?

On an AR with 2 point sling.
I used'em for years draggin AR pattern long guns thru the woods. Still use them for the rear attachment but switched to the offside to see if it'd help.
But previously it happened enough times to be annoying that when shifting positions one would come loose and the firearm would fall.
Mostly the front but occasionally the rear IIRC. Am I doin somethin goofy or is that just nature of the beast? Options?

I don't trust the built in socket on a lot of cheap handguards. If you buy a good quality name brand socket and attach that to a set of m-lok slots I can eventually trust that setup. Needs a fair bit of testing to make sure it's good though.

Pretty much every time I have attached a qd swivel to a built in handguard socket it's popped right out after a yank or two. Haven't tried it on a higher end handguard.

I had a geissele mk16 a while back and the qd point that was built into the rail got to where it wouldn’t hold the sling qd. I think it may have been because the rail was aluminum and the qd was steel.

Since then I’ve been using stripped out 550 cord similar to @Dale Gribble

Not that I don’t trust them, just prefer to weave my sling through the vertical slot on the buttstock and use a cord loop for the front mount.
I've got a MagPul pic mount metal loop I've used up front but I've always used HK clips to connect.
Never really cared for the "clank-n-clunk" of that setup but it worked.
I prolly need to get used to the dedicated sling gig. 🤠

I beat the snot out slings and mounts. If both the QD swivel and the mount are of good quality I’ve never had any trouble.

This is an area where 100% you get what you pay for. Go cheap and you’ll be disappointed.

I bought some 2" wide webbing and made a few slings one time. They were nice and distributed the load well. Still got one.
But now I've kinda got to liking the quick adjust of a Blue Force sling I tried a while back.
Seems like mebbe a lil bungee somewhere in it would be great for some shock absorption. 🤠

New G rails have a steel insert for the qd point. Was it the "old" style that was straight aluminum? Quite a few people have worn those out but it takes a good while.

I have to admit I have never trusted them. But I buy good quality (they're pricier than you'd think) and use them. I feel more comfortable on my lighter guns.
But I have a constant waking nightmare of my precious Steiner falling in slow motion towards a giant rock on the range. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Never had a problem with them but I won't be shocked if I do! I also avoid QD sockets in handguards that don't seem robust. I generally don't like the locations of them anyway.

If I used one on a work gun I would use something much more confidence inspiring. Phone call to a marine buddy or two I know and find out what they haven't broken!
