Always wanted to put a folder on my 10.5 AR. Thought it would be perfect to keep in a bag with my plate carrier. Well, after installing the folder, I don't have room. It is MY fault for having an opinion before hand. I didn't take into account the added bulk of a rifle after you fold it in half. This has me thinking. What are the guns out there that a "slimmer" foot print when folded. 9mm PCCs considered as well as any potential 556 guns. Thanks guys, you ALWAYS have all the answers!!!!!

I'll give you fiddy bux

You beat me.......

OP might want to look at MCX or BRN.....Might always consider some other PDW type stocks or drop to 7.5/8in 300blk if you really need a smaller package. I seem to only prefer the law on my longer rifles but only ever felt the weight was a slight disadvantage but never a big one since it offers mega reliability and reduces overall size.

You're asking about "slimmer when folded". My reading of the words doesn't make sense because 1+1=2 would represent folded bulk, and if you want "slimmer when folded" that would be represented by 1+1= 1.5 which is obviously not a thing. You have to change up the stock attachment to a top/bottom folder type rifle like an AK varient. Or a telescoping stock type.
Sticking close to the AR platform there's piston uppers that don't reqire a buffer tube. You can then install a folder that's slimmer than a buffertube and create a less bulky folder AR type. See link to upper on AIM for a proprietary DI bufferless system.

Look at the new CMMG platform.
They have done away with the buffer and tube. Can use several different types of folders.
Somewhat like the AR180 design.
But there side charger sucks. It needs to fold.

Sounds like you just need a new bag. My 9in .300 black pistol fits perfectly in my Eberlestock Cherry bomb and Vertx Gamut bag with the Law folder.

Something that doesn’t use an AR style stock may help a lot. AR stocks and buffer tube are a bulky setup compared to 1913 mounted braces/stocks.

The PSA Jakl w FS1913 brace is pretty nice IMO.

As someone already mentioned, you're overlooking the obvious answer, a bigger bag.

Or just wear the plate carrier all the time to make room in the bag for the gun. 🙃

Just as another option, maxim and the new hbpdw pfw braces reduce the OAL vs a typical buffer tube when fully collapsed.

P.s. If you wanna sell that folder shoot me a pm ☺️

I was in your same boat several years ago. I wanted a truck gun and I wanted to store it in a regular book bag. IMO some of the dedicated rifle book bags stick out like a sore thumb.

I ended up with a Scorpion pistol with a folding brace. It works perfect for my applications.

My solution to that problem, although the picture is old and it's set up with an optic cut slide now
