I've got a Radical AR in 300 Blackout that has had some issues with the trigger. When I first got it it had a broken disconnector after a few shots. Radical sent me a new disconnector that I installed and it worked fine in the occasional use I had with it.

Recently, with factory ammo (Australian Munitions) it double-fired when my son was firing it. It only happened once, but it bothered me enough (remembering the bad trigger before) that I went home and put in a different mil-spec trigger set. On Sunday while shooting, it happened again. So, now I'm thinking it is something else.

My next step was to break down the bolt and clean it, thinking of a potential slam-fire, but that seems to be pretty rare. It was not very dirty, so it seems less likely.

Any other thoughts as to where I should look? My next test will be to put in a drop-in trigger as maybe the pin holes are off-center and causing it to bind or something.

If it continues to happen send it back to the manufacturer. The holes drilled for the trigger and hammer pins might be out of spec.

When i experienced my first double fire i hadnt realized that i had accidentally reinstalled my hammer sping in backwards. The second time it happened to me, it was because of a faulty disconnector out of a smith and wesson lower parts kit. Just take a look and see.

Only time I have doubled was my fault...poor trigger follow through combined with a light trigger.

Maybe see if you can make it slam fire and go from there.

As much as I shoot, I still tend to double if firing my blk off front and rear bags with its 3# Timney. I don’t zero that rifle anymore with a rear bag.

I never have that problem with my 5.56 guns, but I’ve tuned virtually all the recoil out of them.

Thanks Rudy- that's looking like the most probable issue. It didn't happen to any of the adult, just my young son. I was having a hard time that a lower could be so 'cursed' that even changing out the FCG wouldn't fix it.

We'll shoot it some more this weekend and see.

I had a converted Saiga AK that would double and sometimes triple fire if you were gentle with the trigger. I had put an aftermarket trigger in it to reduce trigger weight, but it still had that long AK trigger pull. A long, slow pull would set up a bumpfire situation.
