Drilling through tile

I need to drill through tile with drywall behind it to mount a bathtub handle.
Thoughts?

use a carbide spade bit for drilling stone /tile.

Then a toggle bolt to mount the bracket.

They make bits for drilling through tile ( and masonry) they look like the ones posted above, and are designed to not crack the tile. Well worth the $5 or so.

I don't know yet. I'm purchasing the handle Thursday. Don't know what size bit for a 3/16" toggle bolt.

That would need about a 1/2" hole.

Use a couple layers of painters tape to keep your bit from wandering. Drill a small hole first. Ceramic use carbide tipped masonry drill bit. Porcelain use diamond tipped. Use a slow speed to avoid ruining the bit.
