Drought is over in S. CLT Wally

At the very height of the post-Sandy Hook ammo-panic, I stumbled onto a couple of 500 round spam cans of .223 in a nearby Wal-Mart for like $125 each. When I asked about them, I was told that people were constantly trying to buy them, but that the cans were somehow shipped to the store without the barcode stickers, and they did not have the right SKU code to print the barcodes and could not sell them. I asked the lady if I could find the right SKU number, could she print the barcodes? She said that if they had the SKU, then she should be able to print the labels. So I went online, found the SKU, and the clerk put it into the computer and found it. She then went and printed the labels and I bought both cans.

Now that was some good thinking.

Now that was some good thinking.

I figured that SKU had to be available somewhere, but I also figured that whoever was working the sporting goods counter would not be motivated to try to find it on their own. For some reason, Wal-Mart does NOT seem to like to have anybody working in the Sporting Goods section and there is almost never anybody there. It must be a store punishment to get put in Sporting Goods because everytime I go in a Wal-Mart around here and actually find the unlucky person that is supposed to be working there, he/she seems to be very reluctant to be helpful or even be there. And if nobody is present and working in the Sporting Goods section, and you start asking random nearby Wal-Mart employees if they can help you, they all look seriously offended and claim that they do not work in Sporting Goods and are unable to help you. If you persist, they will tell you they will try to call someone, but that someone usually never comes. I personally think they just sit around in the break room and watch the security cameras and place bets on how long you will wait before you eventually just give up and leave.

Actually I had really great customer service the other day at the sporting goods area - they guy was really nice and no issues about helping. I was surprised.
oh, but I did have to wait five minutes on them to find who was working the area lol

Was in Zebulon over the weekend (cat and dog sitting for daughter) and saw the on here so I checked out the local Walmart and they had 22lr CCI at $3.47/50. So I bought 10 boxes. Looked like they had plenty. First time I have bought 22s in two or three years at Walmart. Good to see them back. Will check out my local (Elizabeth City) Walmart just to see if they have them. Have not in a long time just because they have not had them.

My local has had 22 for a while but I just buy from online now mostly. Academy also has had bricks for about a year or so now when I need cheap plinking ammo.

I do buy 223 ammo when they have it at Walmart. Normally not hard to get the person with the magic key. I have had a conversation with a manager that wouldn't sell me ammo at 10pm because the state has a law about it. I told him he was wrong and there was no such law. Haven't been back to that Walmart for a long time.
