I’m looking to color code can calibers to mags to gun parts in order to avoid sending a .30 through a .223.... just as someone that trust does... (@BigWaylon)

Ive been reading about Duracoat and it sounds pretty easy to apply at home after some simple prep (cleaning is about it!). There’s also a high heat version.

Any thoughts on Cerakote vs Duracoat?

Thanks for the input as I’ll soon have another form 1 cooking.

Thanks!

I’ve done DIY Cerakote (High temp air cure) on six. Never used Duracoat. Since then I’ve paid @Magdump $25/ea to Cerakote those six plus three (I think) more. They were redone because I had ECCO make changes to three and I wanted a different color on three.

You can do it with a $5 PreVal sprayer if you aren’t setup with any other sprayer. That’s all I used for mine.

I think Nick @ ECCO use moly resin to refinish the ones he does.

Thanks for the info! I have a spray gun and also have an airbrush setup. I’ll have to do some looking. My first one is coming together soon with engraving by THS this week if I can get to the PO.
