Anyone here going out to Oshkosh for the EAA airshow this year? We're going out Tuesday the 23rd and will return on Sunday July 28th. We get there early enough on Tuesday to get to the field before the airshow starts that day. We're staying in a nice brand new Airbnb house. My son's girlfriend and her parents are going with us.

The year before last, we went out on Thursday and came home on Sunday and the fireworks show on Saturday night sucked because of heavy rain. But the B1 Bomber full burn flyby just before dark and the rain more than made up for the wet fireworks display. This year we can go to the Wednesday and Saturday nighttime shows.

If anyone else on here is going and you want to try and meetup, just to say Hi, let me know and I'll PM my cell# to you.

I have wanted to go all me life... one day!

It's kind of funny. Up until a few years ago, I avoided going out to to this air show. I've always gone to the shows at military bases, Dayton, and local shows such as the Winston-Salem air show.

I avoided going to the EAA show simply because of it's name. I always assumed that it was a big air show aimed at only amateur built aircraft and nothing else.

Little did I know how wrong I've been over the years with those assumptions. It's a fantastic air show to attend with a huge array of static warbirds, modern fighters, and everything in between to marvel at and to watch fly.

There is always an awesome surprise sometime during the week. For my son and I, three years ago, the surprise was an unannounced low altitude flyby of a U-2 that did two passes down the runway before climbing out almost vertical and departing. We could hear that aircraft ten minutes after it departed the air show airspace.

It's a great air show to attend.

My dad’ll be there.

That's my favorite.... the dragon lady is just cool ain't no two ways about it

A few years ago, a U-2 on a training mission flamed out somewhere over Tennessee. The pilot glided it to New Mexico, where it was headed anyway, and made a safe landing. Lol.

I went back in 2010. What a blast. I would really like to go back up again for the air show. I'm a Mustang fan and Jack Roush had several specialty Mustangs on display that year. That was also the year he crashed his plane at Oshkosh.
