As a couple of you may remember I picked this thing up a couple of years ago...

Rusted, pitted, dirty, and downright ugly..

I picked it up super cheap, and started with the idea of just making it a functional woods gun.

Started with this:

After bead blast & Cerakote by @ARGuy

Sanded down the cracked finish on the stock

And then the whole thing came to a screeching halt when I found this:

I thought for sure this project was a goner...Browning discontinued making parts for these, and aftermarket support is nil. You can get a new style bolt sleeve, but then you have to get a new style timing latch..and guess what, no one has them.

Until a few days ago! eBay of all places! The gun gods have shined their light upon me this day!!!!

Just a couple things to button up and I’ll be ready to test fire. I replaced several parts (action spring, gas piston, gas regulator, gas regulator gasket, bolt sleeve, operating handle), so cross your fingers for me!

Thanks guys!

Any Browning gurus here? I can’t find anywhere how to get the floorplate spring reinstalled. I tried a slave pin, and turning the spring, but its pretty stiff. There’s gotta be a secret.

Well, I guess I can call this one done...

Got all the impossible to find parts in, put a few rounds through it with no issues.

Got tired of just looking at it sitting in the safe, waiting to have more money than it would ever be worth to have it refinished and reblued.

Shot some rustoleum camo on it, the mounts and an old 3-9x40 scope on it I had laying around.

Should be a good deer/bear gun this fall.

Just call me Bubba.
