Earth Tubes - Geothermal Air Heat Exchange

Update:

I am working on insulating the 6" black flex that comes out of the ground. Just covering it with a white canvas yielded 2-3 degrees improvement.

Swapped the Inlet and Outlet, so that the Inlet is drawing air from just under the ceiling in the shop. The outlet is at floor level. This way, it takes the hottest air in, and puts the cooled air where I can feel it.

While I was moving leaf mulch for another garden we are making, I put some more of it above the Earth Tubes. Now it's providing 10 degrees of cooling on an 85 degree day!

Also, several days ago we had a couple of 45 degree nights. The temp in the shop never dropped below 55 degrees. That was very encouraging to see!

I wonder how long you'll get out of your current system in one day before you run out of cool air

There's a cabinet man that I deal with in Goldsboro, basically had a car radiator in the window with a 50' foot well and a circulating pump on it. turn the pump on and then the fan. He said in the middle of the summer you would get cool air until a little after lunch.

Constant temp water requires a well deeper than 30 ft. I don't know what to expect from my system

Two days in a row, the Earth Tubes have kept the shop at the ambient outdoor temp on the north side of the building. No heat buildup at all! The hot metal roof has been defeated!
