Edisto Beach SC

Since you good folks have offered me some fun tips in the past...
My wife is planning to spend a long weekend in Edisto Beach SC with her dad. I was invited to come along.
How worried should I be?
What should they know about the area?
What should they try to do in the area? Her dad was in the Navy during vietnam, and has been known to enjoy a bit of history.

Folks lived there for years. Nothing to do but relax. If you have a boat there is a LOT of water.

Take some books, take naps, and if you are interested there’s a lot of low country history down there. Some of my mom’s people are from Rockville across the Edisto River close by, late 17th, early 18th century. The last time I was in Rockville the roads were still sand in the little village. It’s very small. Some 18th century houses like the one pictured are still standing and occupied. Tell ‘em we said “hi”.

Oh we love Edisto! Relaxed place! Have friends that have been there since the 50's. We like the off season because you can take dogs on the beach.

EdisSlow is a wonderful place to relax and get away. As previously stated, there’s not a lot of excitement but if you need a beautiful place to read, nap, eat and recharge then you’re in the right place. Off season is even more so. Botany Bay is on the way in as well as the serpentarium. Not sure about when or if they are open in the off season. I’ve been going in the summer for twenty years. Can’t beat Edisto!

Gators and sneks if you get off road. They may be tucked in for the winter or not if a warm sunny day.

The Edisto Post Office was a great place for dinner.... Haven't been in over 15 years, hopefully it is still great, but give a look.

There really was not much going on at all. Between the early closing businesses outside the tourist season and a medical issue with my FIL, I sat on my butt a whole lot.
