You can get an extended mag to extend the tube for a Remington 870. I am wondering if there is such a thing for a Winchester 1300? Anyone know?

My understanding is that you cannot replace the barrel on a 1300 "standard" with a shorter "defender" barrel. You can change barrels, but the defender barrel is threaded differently. Does anyone know if this is correct? How much trouble is it to cut off the barrel (to a legal length, of course) on a traditional model? If you have a mag extender, do you then have the same thing?

Not sure about the Winchester. Be careful with the 870s the Express, Wingmaster, Magnums and Police models have some differences. From what I understand if you get an Express model you will have to do more machining on the magazine tube to get an extension to work. Wingmaster, Magnums and Police models should all be the same for the magazine extensions and no extra machining on the magazine tube.

The magazine tube is threaded and not the barrel on the Winchester 1300 pump. The barrel will insert into the receiver as deep as the barrel lug will allow. What would make a difference is if the magazine tube is longer to allow more ammo capacity. A longer magazine tube would require a greater distance between the barrel lug and the ring on the barrel that slips over the magazine tube.
