Been flipping through FB marketplace lately. Guy had the griddle for sale for $10. Wanted it for camping. While working out the details he put the 2 skillets in for $20. Told him
I'd take them. Ran by today and I asked if he had anymore. His mom told him to grab the "small ones". He set the 2 pots on the counter. These things are unicorns. Been looking for 2 years. Walked out with it all for $40. She wouldn't let go of the larger pot or her main skillet. Paid them. I'm thrilled, wife is thrilled. She wanted pots bad. Buddy that collects it was annoyed. Lol. No markings on it but it's older, no ring on the bottom stuff. But I'm fine with good utilitarian cast iron. Now to clean and season it all.

Tell me about it. I wanted the big one but only took an extra $20. Wasn't going to push hard once she said she wanted to keep it. But if I had the money I would have laid $80 buck out to test the waters. Driving to the other side of the county to meet random FB guy, I wasn't rolling in with a lot of cash on me but wanted some extra for this reason. Good folks, just hard up for money and getting ready to move. My wife's eyes got big and she got excited when I walked in with the pots.

I love my cast iron stuff! A lot of mine is from family over the years. Some old Griswolds and Lodge. They make good fried chicken!

If ya want this stuff ? Ya might wanna go to the Eden flea market early on a Saturday mornin. There's an older black feller that usually has a pile of it.

If you haven't seasoned them yet, what process do you use?

We washed them really good, soap and water first. They really didn't look that bad after washing. For the griddle and smooth pan we just cooked sausage and bacon in them a few times. Then started using them regularly. They seasoned up fine. For the pots we heated them and used spray oil on them. We also oil them after using them. Since they are used to boil water mostly you have to keep an eye on them. The bottom will rust if you don't re oil them after using them. But man do they boil water fast! The meat pan with the ridges we have not messed with yet. Not sure what we will do with it.

The last pan I got that was in bad condition we had to strip it first. Sprayed with easy off oven cleaner and put it in a trash bag over night. Scrubbed it good. Then we soaked it in white vinegar to remove some rust that was left. After that we heated it up in the oven, oiled it, heated it, oiled it a few times to build up the seasoning. Then started using it regularly. For detailed info just google cleaning cast iron with easy off.
