I got a DS Arms FAL scope mount for my rifle and installed it today. The irons are pretty much useless for me past 100 yds. If it ever stops raining I'll get it sighted in. It is pretty heavy with the mount and scope. Glad I only have to carry it from the safe to the car and then from the car to the firing line!20230620_200231.jpg20230620_200206.jpg20230620_200350.jpg

Just weighed it on the bathroom scale: 11.6 lbs with an empty magazine! Should further dampen the recoil at least.

Sarco sells a cheek pad you might want to give a look.
Good looking rifle too....

Took it to Woodys today to sight it in. After zero for 200 yds, I moved to the 550 plate range. 200 yds was no issue but I needed a spotter beyond that distance to tell me where my rounds were hitting, but it was just me, so I stayed at 200 yds. I shot some Federal 150 gr SP rounds that had tighter grouping than the Portuguese surplus ball I was also shooting. Grouping went to about 2" at 100 yds which is pretty good for an FAL with a cheap scope and a take off Imbel barrel!

Curious as to who did that build?
It started as a DSA tactical carbine but the recoil and blast was unpleasant so Entreprise Arms swapped in a take off Imbel barrel and gas block. I added DSA gas piston, tube, flash hider, hand guards. The butt is an Israeli light rifle butt, the pad is from the fiberglass butt that came with the rifle, the pistol grip came from a guy on the FAL files. The receiver is forged by LMT for DSA, the lower is a DSA aluminum.

That was exactly my experience with the same setup on the FAL I had. Cool, but too heavy to really be practical. That said, it shot reasonably well. I could bang 6" steel at 200yds all day using Tula 150gr 308win with the built-in bipod with a 1x prism sight with that rifle. With your magnified optic it should be a joy to shoot from a bench. All while indeed looking very cool. :)

They are heavy beasts.

I've schlepped my Izzy HB around by the handle and wondered whether it got any lighter in the middle eastern deserts with Syrians, Egyptians and Jordanians shooting at you.
