sounds interesting...and efficient (which general goes against anything government related)

More info from Dead Air: https://deadairsilencers.com/atf-form4-generator-pr/
More info from Silencer Shop: https://blog.silencershop.com/f4-barcode-system-approved-by-atf/

The email from Dead Air:

Submit your Form 4 faster with reduced wait times
Dead Air Silencers, Gemtech, and Silencer Shop teamed up to find an immediate solution for silencer owners to get their forms completed more easily and with less wait times. Introducing the ATF Form 4 Generator.

The form generator pulls data from several different data sources and auto-populates the correct FFL number, address, etc., without additional input from the dealer. The buyer’s information and product information are then entered by the dealer and the form is printed. The printed copies will feature a 2D barcode on the ATF’s copy of the generated form(s).

Once the barcoded form is received by the NFA processing center, it is scanned into ATF’s system. This new process requires only seconds and has virtually no error rate. In adopting the new system, ATF will have cut significant resources typically required for data entry that can be focused on other parts of the NFA process.

Dang ya beat me to it hahaha.

This looks interesting and very promising. I might just have to get fingerprinted if the wait drops to a reasonable period.

Edit: Scott THSF or Jkupp any guestimate on the current wait as if a F4 was sub'd today?

Silencer Shop is saying this should keep F4 times under 90 days once the current stack is cleared out.

That doesn't sound too bad considering it looks like the HPA has stalled.

Just read SS facebook page. Current backlog should take until end of the year.

Yes. It's cool. I would guess 90days or less.
But it's unrelated to this newest announcement?

I'd never heard of it, as it appears to be dealer related..but somebody posted it on ARF today, which may just be a coincidence along with the barcode deal.

So in 2024 sometime?
I took a guess about a month ago that any form submitted by the end of July would be approved this year. I think the volume dropped so much starting 7/13 that speeds are gonna ramp up real fast, real soon. I've already seen Oct forms coming back.

The "by the end of the year" guess may not come through, but I don't think it'll be much past that.

Submitted my last one June 1st. I'm hoping to have it by Nov 15th. Wishful, I know.

I've got one from december of 2016 I'm waiting on. Would love to have it for hunting season this year!

There's a bigger thread on ARF with more Q&A, including SS answering questions. Read it here if interested.

There's a link in there to TFB, which is a much better source than TTAG...here's the direct link if you want it: NFA Fast Track

I would guess a form 4 submitted today would take about 6 months for individual and 8 for trust/corporation application.
My guess is that next year at this time, applications will take 2 to 4 months from the day they are mailed.

So, you're saying I should be looking for a part time job?

Was just talking to one of the examiners at the NFA branch an asked her thoughts or what she new of the barcode on forms.
Her replay was that the ATF is not even using the barcodes because nothing has been approved as of yet us use them for data entry.

Anyone else out there hear or read similar on the internet?

I posted that on ARFCOM in a long thread announcing the barcode. Will be interesting to hear any feedback.

So it is apparent that the Barcode seems to be nothing than a marketing ploy. The barcodes on forms mailed to the ATF are not being scanned or utilized. As per the top brass at the NFA branch nothing has been implemented concerning barcodes on forms and it will not affect application wait time if or when it may ever be implemented.
