Where are the .41 fans? What are your favorite loads?
I'm a relative newb to reloading, but have had good luck with Starline brass, non-magnum primer & 17.5gr of 2400 under a 215gr "Keith". Accurate & runs ~1350 fps from my 5.5" Bisley Blackhawk. 18.5gr was slightly more accurate, but right at the limit of what I wanted to hold onto.
I'll be picking up a Bisley Super Blackhawk Hunter soon & looking for ideas for feeding 'er. A rough guesstimate from Ballistics by the Inch says the above load oughtta run close to 1500 fps outta the 7.5" barrel. The extra weight of the SBH frame & longer barrel oughtta dampen the recoil as well & that's about as much of a "hotrod" load as I want/need. But do want to start playing with heavier weight bullets.
Gonna be buying a few hundred more pieces of brass, along with a buncha both 215gr & 240gr "Keiths". The 240s would be primarily for hunting, with 215s for both hunting & plinking. Got 2400, H110, Unique & W231 on hand. Think I've even got some IMR4227. Gonna try to work up a 750 fps plinker & a 1000 fps "standard" load with the 215gr bullets & a hunting load with the 240gr at around 1100fps. Depending on accuracy/recoil, I might try pushing the 240gr even faster, just outta curiousity...
Any recommendations? What are your pet loads? Whose boolits do ya like? I've had great luck with Dardas' boolits- the 215s are very accurate, clean & no leading, even approaching 1400 fps.
Hell, what are you shooting 'em from? Would love to get a good .41 thread going.
