Believe it or not, the wallyworld equate knock off tums are pretty awesome.

I have cast iron intestines so I haven't needed the other, but I always carry imodium just in case. Mainly a habit leftover from hiking with boy scouts and carrying a little bit of everything just in case.

Try buying and using papaya extract. You just eat three of them after every meal. After a week my brother was able to stop taking prescription antacids.

Since I use papaya it is rare for me to have a need anymore. But when I do Zantac 150 is where it was at.

I take 300mfg of Zantac every night. It works as well as anything I've ever used. I take it because of sinus problems not really stomach but it helps a lot when I've had something spicy.

Come again? Never heard about zantac for sinus issues.

My ENT prescribed it because I had chronic sinus infections. He said that 50-60% of recurring sinus infections are caused by acid reflux in people. The acid comes up in your mouth you know about, but you can get it all the way to you sinus cavity. When it gets that far it causes irritation and then infections.

Interesting. I had not heard that. I was having chronic sinus infections as well and tried several different things through ENT’s including balloon sinoplasty.

What seems to be working right now is what the last ENT told me to do and that was stop taking Zyrtec or Claritin. Just use nasacort and take musinex. He said I was drying out the tissue and then it would get infected.

The sinoplasty is kind of useless according to my ENT. He said only the doctors that want you to come back use it. I had the turbinate reduction and they took a bit of bone out. Now about every 4-5 years I go back for an abloasion of the actual turbinate so shrink it out of the way.
Mine did say that too much medication will dry them out and cause air drag. If you have heartburn I would try it out. It's cheap at Walmart and if it works your dr can write a script 90 days 15.00

Equate brand TUMS, like BOG said.

If I eat like hoomans are supposed to eat, I rarely need them.

My Dr. took me off of my daily Prilosec saying that it turns out that Prilosec is terrible on yer kidneys. He now has me on 300mg of Zantac every day. I now have to sometimes supplement that with a couple of Tums. Never had to with Prilosec.

I’m taking knock off Prilosec now. Prescribed by my ENT. Sinus Infections and ultimately having to have my tonsils removed were from issues that stemmed from issues with acid reflux. Even after the tonsils removal I had issues. I had to switch doctors before one figured out my issue

Zantac wasn't working for me. It got bad enough that I couldn't sleep.
Omeprazole does the trick.

You probably need to see a doctor if it's that bad. Constant heartburn to that degree can lead to barrett's syndrome.
The other thing that helps my heartburn is believe it or not stool softener. If your not moving well enough it slows down digestion.

I had a sinus scope and had an endoscopy to see if I had Barrett’s esophagus. Everything was good, but bad acid reflux will make your teeth, tongue, ears and everything else hurt

You guys know that antacids will jncreinc your likelyhood of kidney stones.

I had my gallbladder taken out a 8 days ago. I am having more trouble now than before my surgery. I am chewing tums like they going to quit making them. I am calling my Dr. first thing in the morning.

our favorite is whatever is on special.
we haven't found any difference
among the brands or generic.

I discovered that a whole aspirin and 3-4 cups of coffee did not make the best breakfast.
No one ever bothered to ask what I ate for breakfast everyday.

And this after Zantac scripts, and getting scoped topside.

I started eating actual food in the morning, and stopped taking the whole unbuffered aspirin in the morning and my problems went away.

As long as I avoid wheat and don't overdo it on sugar, I go months without taking an antacid and I take no daily meds for it.

Any wheat and it's miserable heartburn within a half hour. Lots of sweets and heartburn...

Then I take the chewables above.

I was a daily Omeprazole user for YEARS.

@Cowboy I thought stool softener was only for fudge packers. Learn something every day.

I had it and sat up straight all night for a year and still reflux of black acid that left my teeth sensitive. Finally scheduled surgery and all was gone for 15 years. Could not burp as many can’t either afterwards for 8 years. Everything came out as gas from behind. Could not drink more than one beer for a couple years due to gas. Now 18 years later I am getting some heartburn if I drink even one beer or eat Mexican before bed. The surgery is wearing thin again. I may need to address it again. Until then it’s a couple tums if I eat late.

My wife has very bad reflux. Has had two scopes in the last two years. First one they thought she had Barrett's or pre cancer, second one she had improved to the point they couldn't see anything bad. She takes Dexilant which is super strong. But she is classic over achiever, ocd, always moving personality.

I put it off until my wife and I had too many arguements about it. It changed my behavior for the better as I never slept and pissed daily. Five incision scars later (not visible now) and I felt like new. I had a desk job at the time so the healing and work schedule was no issue. I interviewed my surgeon and called his references. Others had doctors who made a mess of the procedure. This is all this doctor did twice a week, all day. The other days he did pre screening.

If it has loosened I am going to do it again. Medication did absolutely nothing for me. They tried different types and dosages but they never helped even a little.

You need to pm me that information. My wife thought about the magnetic band placement surgery but since that time has done better.

As funny as this thread sounds, it's a wealth of information. ;)

Pepcid Complete , they work for cramps in my legs too. I don't take them frequently, but they work for me.

Having none of these problems I opened this thread only for amusement...I am disappointed.

Generic tums. I used the Equate brand until I started getting another generic (possibly the same under a different label) at no cost through my insurance plan.
