I drove up from Wilmington today to check out this show, and got a really big surprise. Perhaps this is something that I should have known, but vendors are not allowed to sell gunpowder at the Fayetteville Gun Show. I drove up specifically to purchase some Trail Boss powder. I spoke with the organizer representative from C&E Gun Shows, and he stated that the Fire Marshall would not allow gunpowder inside the building, and the same condition was enforced at the Hickory Gun Show that they promote. He did elaborate that there could be a total of 2 pounds of powder, and 10,000 primers inside the building. There was one vendor (Cover Six) that had some powders available, but you had to pay inside and pick up the powder outside of the building, and as luck would have it he did not have any Trail Boss. His powder sample jugs were empty and velcroed to a board.

I wonder what the Fire Marshall is up to? Does anyone know any other shows that do not allow gunpowder sales?

Not a total loss, as I got to spend time with my brothers that live in the area.

I'm pretty sure Academy in Fayetteville had Trail Boss when I was there today.

That does really suck that you drove all that way for that one thing. Maybe your brothers can go look and grab a couple pounds for you.

Personally C&E is one of the less desirable shows to attend. Unless it's the only ballgame in town I'd wait.
As for the FM, those pricks usually run out of control and think they have the final say, until someone challenges them and they back down but C&E doesn't have the balls to do so....

Rumor:rolleyes: has it that a prominent and politically well connected gun shop in the local area doesn't like gun shows and started this BS years ago to make it as difficult as possible on the patrons and the vendors. They even dropped a few dimes to the ATF about illegal sales and so on. If gun shows pulled out of Fayetteville they would be very happy.

You should have driven a few more miles to Ed's Gun Shop, got your powder, and a new knife.and gun.

I actually drove the distance to visit. I got a can of Trail Boss from Sportsman's Warehouse in ILM when I returned. I knew that they had it in stock.

Just venting, due to the surprise factor of no gunpowder sales at a GUN SHOW, and virtually no reloading supplies altogether.

That sounds about right! Do they have a shop in Wilmington, also?

Cover Six is one that I like to buy from at the Raleigh shows (where they DO allow powder inside).

I wonder what they would say if someone setup a tent outside (like the ones they sell fireworks from) and had reloading supplies out there.

It's a little surprising I guess but I would not be surprised if the trend continued to other shows. I quit going a long time ago due to burn out from working them. We sold powder and back when you could smoke in these barns, we would have to tell folks all the time to PUT DOWN THE GUNPOWDER AND STEP AWAY FROM THE TABLE. Some folks just should have been drowned at birth. You can't fix stupid.

Yep, and the gun shows there suck too. I do not spend Money there and I encourage others to take their business elsewhere. I’m partial to Ed’s, Midsouth and Village (in wadesboro). Luv me some Fuqay Gun and Gold too

I figured as much. The gun shows in Wilmington do suck. Virtually non-existent. You would think a community this large could do better, but not! Once you start putting the pieces of the puzzles together, you can understand why things are the way they are.

The Cover Six folks were great to talk to. I think I would like to do business with them. They stated that the gun show they attended the previous weekend, they were cleaned out of powder. Pretty much my luck of the day..........

If they come to a gun show in your area, you can order online before the show and then pick up your order at the show. I've done that a couple of times. Mike and his wife are great people to deal with.

Would you mind PMing me more info on this? I would very much like to avoid ever darkening the doorway of the asshats that would do something like this, I’ll go to extreme measures to make sure I never allow a single cent of mine to make it into their cash drawer.
