FBI Threatens Shutdown of Gun Purchase Background Checks as Massive Surge in Sales Creates Backlog

Obviously they're thinking if they shut it down, it virtually halts gun sales. Here's a better idea. Shut the abominable thing that shouldn't exist in the first place down permanently and we just do away with it. It's called making govt. smaller and it would be a step in the right direction.

What's the best caliber for Corona Virus? Head shot only or double lunger? Takes a lot of ammo looks like. Maybe that Mozambiki drill might work. I forget how that goes... I was gonna grab me a 12 pack to stay home, but I damn sure don't want the virus that goes with it. Helluva world, these immigrants and all. We need us a Law!

My reading comprehension must be slipping; what I read in the article did not match up with the title.

Have had one run except for my CHP renewal since the NC Legislature amend the statutes to allow CHP’s to be use in place of a NICS check ... my secondary reason for suggesting someone get their CHP.

I'll agree sort of. They do explain that they want the three day thing to not apply if .gov offices are closed. Not sure how much traction that's going to get but it could mean a shutdown for BGCs that require additional scrutiny.

Nowhere in the article is a complete halt on NICS checks mentioned.

It was a poorly written article but I did see this: 'unexpected volume' + 'office closures' = delay in processing + business day loophole in law = denial of your second amendment rights = unacceptable.

I don't remember reading "shall not be infringed - except on non-FBI/NICS/Government office business days" in any copy of the bill of rights.

Stock up on blood pressure medicine now in case we go to lockdown and all businesses except grocery stores and pharmacies are closed.

I guess this would be a "great" time for people who would otherwise fail the check to get a firearm due to the "dylan roof" loophole (isn't like if the background check takes more than 3 days the dealer can proceed?)
I read today that they're extending that to 30 days.

nope.
"3 business days" means days they decide they are open to run checks.
If they fall behind, they can just close up. that way there are no business days elapsing without checks...
so much for your rights.
