Hey all I’m looking into doing a Hog hunt at some point this year, I don’t have a hunting license yet so I’m trying to gather any info from the hive mind that I can before I invest any cash.

I have found a site with some game land information showing the days & times you can hunt and the fee says $8.00.

https://www.ncwildlife.org/Portals/0/License/Documents/Permit Hunts/Coyote-Feral-Hog.pdf

I haven’t really hunted in 35-40 years, I have sat in a blind on a members property a number of years but never saw anything to shoot though.

Is anyone currently or have recently hunted pigs in NC? And if so do you have any suggestions? I don’t mind paying a small fee or helping someone cull the critters off their land.

Now that my .458 Socom is functioning and I’m hand loading for it I’m getting the urge to bring home the bacon.

I looked into the same the past few years as a couple friends and I would love to do some wild boar control. Unfortunately there don’t appear to be many great opportunities in NC... you either need to know a land owner with hog problems, pay $$$ to a guide plus “trophy fees” and usually limit 1ea, or take your chances on public game lands which aren’t excellent for hogs in NC. There are better hog opportunities on game lands in SC from what I’ve read/heard. I found some great looking guided hunt offers in South GA.

My advice is to drive to TX or LA and you'll have all the darn hogs you want.

If you want closer, then Waccamaw National Wildlife refuge does a hog hunt in the spring. Unfortunately, that's $100 out of state license and $100 big game tag. I'm not willing to pay $200 just to hunt public land for a nuisance.

Just like Coyotes, Fireants, and hydrilla, they'll be a nuisance here soon enough.

I know of a place around here to hunt hogs, but I believe it's $250 per hog and they'll guarantee you get one, or at least return until you get one under the same fee.

Might as well buy a hog and have it slaughtered [emoji16]

That's why I wound up not hunting boar... They talk about the big problem they are, but no one will let you hunt them on their land or they want way more than a processed hog from Nahunta...

It's ridiculous. Same thing out of state...
