Yep, finally got one for Kelly and I from @NCWalrus. She's already named it Pearl. This will be her street bike to ride around the back roads we ride on now. And of course, it will be my kart track track bike.

I rode it home from Matthews to Harrisburg, and I was cheesing the whole time. I got up to 63 mph, and still wasn't in the rev limiter, but it had to be close. So when we got home, I told Kelly to go in and get the keys to the building so I could put "Pearl" up. She told me no, it was going inside the house 🤣. So right now, it's sitting downstairs in the weight/exercise room. This is gonna be fun.IMG_20230714_111232603_HDR.jpg

Thank you for saving me. I wanted that thing so bad. Looks like it found itself a great new home.

Not a Grom, which is heresy for a someone like me who exclusively owns honda vehicles..but covid took all the supply of Groms and for some reason I needed a 125 thumper in that very moment. So I bought a new 2020 z125. It's been a good bike! I used to putt around Wilmington on it and take my funsized wife out for rides and it did well hauling about 290lbs of meat, now that I live 10 miles from civilization up a 55mph road, I don't think it's left my property in 2 years, and that was just to see how brutal the ride to town was at 4th gear, 56-58mph, and unable to hit redline unless down hill 🙃 but it is fun doing wheelies up and down my driveway and checking the mail on it, so I'd say it's money well spent!

The newer 5 speed Grom looks interesting, I've been considering selling the Kawasaki for one, byt then again this one is already here and paid for LOL.

I was looking for a Grom or Z125, and couldn't find anything that was decently priced, or not beat to crap. I really like the Z's too. Bring that thing to CMP when we have a mini bike track day and have some fun.

I think there are a few. I'm not positive which ones but I believe the 230 and 250 are both options. Would make that thing an absolute barrel of monkeys.

The thing I want more than a Grom is a Ruckus. I know, slow. It just looks like a good base for a Mad Max build to me.

This always strikes me as funny :D :D :D ...I mean....why wouldn't it be???
In this case, i mostly ment it as sly for saying, at this point, if I sell the Kawasaki, I doubt I'll actually use the cash to buy the Honda :p

However, The dealer gladly offered me the opportunity to apply for financing ;)

If you're ever over by Charlotte Motor Speedway, hit me up and you can give her a rip. We have rides on the weekend, and sometimes we'll have about a quarter of the bikes Groms and Z-125's. They are fun.

A grom just looks like so much fun. Just cant justify the price unless there was some parking lot racing going on or something.

They are a blast to put around on. They are listed at 134 mpg, but real world looks more like high 90's. Could make a killer little commuter if you lived close to work and didn't have to hit any highways. I rolled down 49 last weekend and had no problems running 55, and could hit 60 but was really on the gas to do that.

I put a carbon mini windscreen on it last Sunday, but haven't rode it yet with it on. I've read where it helps a little with top speed, but that remains to be seen yet. I will also be doing mini kart track days with this at CMP and VIR, so there's that, 🤣. I just have to keep from crashing "Pearl" or Kelly will have my head, haha.

Find you a Big Ruckus I think it was called. It is an oversized Ruckus scooter that can hit 55mph.

I picked up a '23 red Grom last December. Good winter project for me. I tinkered and upgraded a ton of crap. TST Industries has a TON of quality upgrades. I essentially bought everything they offered and upgraded it over a few months. I currently have a few front and rear sprockets to mess around with to get more top-end and flow better with traffic. Biggest gains were the intake and ECU flash I had done. I'm 6'1" @ 205lbs and can hit high 60s easily.
Can't overstate just how much freaking fun these things are!
Wish there were some other Grommers in my area to tool around with but haven't found any yet.

They make a 250cc Ruckus that will hit 70+.
Do they still stateside? The Big Ruckus was 250cc I thought but all of the reviews mentioned 55 or 60 for top speed.

I can't swear to that, I haven't seen any super new ones.
They sure did when they first came out. I wanted one but like the Grom they were pricey. They were legal to take on the freeway. Stupid, but legal.
You may be right though, seems all they do now is the 50cc, which also has it's own cult.

Yeah. The Big Ruckus always interested me just due to its weirdness. I just looked it up and they claimed it can hit 70-75, but without an aftermarket windshield that you get buffeted pretty badly due to the Ruckus shape.

Cool thing about the ruckus, apart from the twin round headlights, is all the mods that are available. They've made them for so long and, basically, the same thing for years and years and years and there's SO much aftermarket for them

Bump to see how you're enjoying the Grom still?

Loving it man. I've ordered a new intake for it, and I'm getting the new Kenda tires mounted up soon for a track day at CMP at the end of next month.

Ughh, was really hoping you weren’t enjoying it so you could sell it to me.

Haha, yeah, it became the bike I took out more than all the others last summer.
If you want one, I can find you one, and most likely at a decent deal.
