Oct 3 is the date. The VA is sending me to an outside company to do the exam, since they're backed up. I feel a little better about seeing a non VA related doctor for this. They should be more neutral than the VA and less likely to try and screw me. I've been back and forth with them since 2013 trying to find the issue with my back.

Funny that everyone has found something except the VA (up until 6 months ago) German hospital found issues while in Afghan, numerous doctors since being home.. the VA has always said no issues, no results on MRI or Xrays and my back is fine. Last MRI 6 months ago with the VA finally showed issues that were inline with issues back in 2012. So I grabbed that paperwork and every doc visit from overseas up until now, health surveys, etc. and filed my claim.

Hope this works out for me.

Go to your own doctor.
Have him diagnose you with what’s wrong with your back.
Take the results to the C&P exam.
Get the results as part of your record.

In the event of a tie or a push, the veteran is given the benefit of the doubt.
