Well, since I've been buying AK-V mags for a few months now, I figured it was time to pick up the gun to go along with them. It seems PSA supply has finally caught up with demand, as several of the models are staying in stock longer and longer every day when PSA updates the page (usually about 4-4:30 p.m. every weekday). Here it is fresh out of the box, sporting a Burris FastFire 3. At some point, I'll replace the Magpul furniture with a surplus grip and handguards. I'd love to slap a Romanian dong on it but may need a stamp first.

First impressions out of the box are good - fit and finish look superb. It's heavier than I thought and feels much more solid. Dare I say rugged? AK-V mags lock in nicely and drop free. Trigger is clean but has a bit longer travel than I expected. No red or even yellow flags were raised after a cursory breakdown and reassemble, and the whole thing feels tight in a good way. Only complaint so far ... no bayonet lug ;)

My plan is to run a few hundred rounds of various brass and steel cased ammo through it this weekend. A lot of guys remove the factory buffer, so I may try some rounds with the buffer installed and also taken off and see if there is much difference.

From looks and feels alone, I'm really digging this little gun! We'll see how it performs soon!
