Firearms Auction this weekend!

Some interesting guns on the list.

With all the 'gun grab' talk from our politicians there will be no deals to be had. I stay away from auctions as it seems to be the first choice and not a last chance to sell guns. I've noticed this since 1980'ish...

Not saying there won't be a deal or two, just not worth the time required. Too many 'dealers' and emotions...

$5 just to get a number to bid, so my curiosity just vanished. It will keep the lookie-loos away, or at least this one.

I am guessing it will be tax on checkout. Got nailed by that one time at a Winston auction. Was told if the auctioneer is doing it at a location (versus his business location) then all sales have tax.

Very lame.

Since they are a phudd joint that has gunbuster signs on the door, I wouldn't attend if was free to bid...
Seriously? A place that calls itself a Shooting Academy forbids carrying?????

That’s not their only phuddish character flaw either.

That said, it’s the nicest indoor range I’ve ever been to by far and a good place to take a new shooter, but I wont go back.

@bigfelipe i s right

I think I seen another sign that said “We will gladly take you money and 2a rights”
It’s been some time since I visited TSA (I thought the name was kinda bad at first ... maybe now it was foreshadowing) and remember Bill and crew had the no loaded firearms sign thing then reversed to kinda concealed was okay but keep ‘em concealed ... so now it’s back to no concealed. Hmmm ... I remember telling Bill back in North Raleigh gun days to build a range, he was big into the real estate game and I really meant outdoor one, because the market and area would support it. He went the indoor direction and had grand ideas and was going to have all these extras from cafe to gunsmith on site to 100 yard rifle lanes. A few years later it’s nothing a true shooter and firearms enthusiast really wants to go to ... an overpriced gun shop, with indoor range with very little more than standing shooting at a static paper target. Sure he has the cafe, which is pretty damn good, but food isn’t why I would go to a range. He has the gunsmith, unless Capp has moved on recently. But after that he dropped the rifle lanes ... I was thinking of those for load development and zeroing ... for some reason. TSA offers the CHP classes BUT does not allow Concealed Carry in their building? no es bueno. All that seems to be left is an overpriced gun store (North Raleigh Gun’s actually had good prices) , a range with more “guntry club” type setup where RO’s kinda do have to stand over shooter’s because no telling who is on the lane and just how safe they are (like RO’s at other public ranges have to also do).

I remember them opening and I tried to be excited for Bill ... yea, public indoor range ... but with some staff stories, prices, expansion w/100 yards rifle lanes falling thru, TSA wasn’t really a thought anymore but with that sign above No Concealed especially ... nope. Their target market, different demographic than me for sure, will likely not see it like me or many here but Bill’s North Raleigh Gun’s sure did feel way different from this TSA thing ... sad thing is that original little shop that was maybe 30’ by 60’ in the back side of a little business complex turned into a totally different animal than Bill started.

Sold out to the dollar, but it’s his right too.

Bill went in with high debt to make bigger $. He chose to be in the middle of Briar Creek to bring in the more affluent clientele as well. I've a friend whose wife's ant-gun. He shoots their and has chosen to take her there instead of coming out to the country and let her get started with suppressed 22's because he thinks she'll feel safer in that controlled environment.

His license plate is/was TSA as well, cracked me up.

I'm not comfortable in an indoor range with unknown shooters I don't know, and haven't been to one in 25+ years.
Teaching someone with only one weapon out and no other distractions seems safer to me.
It isn't about real safety. It's about perceived safety and the one doing the perceiving doesn't know anything. My comment was reinforcing the fact that she will FEEL safer. Not be safer.

That's also the reason why these people think passing a gun law will make them safer.

Yep, he did actually do a pretty good deal on the land but that building and facilities was nowhere near cheap but as you said his target clientele kinda dictated a “guntry club” type setup.

Funny you should mention suppressed .22’s ... I seem to remember back when it was North Raleigh Guns and Bill & crew started teaching the CHP classes he had a little improvised range for the shooting portion and used suppressed .22’s for it which was included in the cost of the class. I’m not completely sure why he used them ... maybe it was to make it easy on those taking the class (no guns, ammo or ears required) and not be so overwhelming ... kinda like you starting out new shooter’s out in outdoor country.

More than once I went in and staff was cleaning filthy 22's.

Local guy here is having a Big auction soon. Complete with...10% buyer's premium, 8% sales tax, 3% CC charge, $10.00 4473 paperwork, PLUS two guys sitting in the back on laptops running up the bid.

@Prodiver ... Bill, what’s the status of CHP holders now?

For the record, we changed the concealed carry rule in 2016. You may carry concealed in our store.

Unbelievably we had a concealed carry customer pull his firearm out and try a new holster. And he left it in the holster on the rack! Never a dull moment.

In addition to the firearms, we have a bunch of knives and swords going up. No cc fee, buyers premium, or transfer fees. We do have to charge sales tax....
