All of you are just causal fans of the show. Until you reach my level of geekdom by having Serenity and its miniature crew on your Christmas tree too, I consider you subservient to my fandom.

Regarding watching the series again...I get depressed with the by the last show knowing there are no more.
Excuse me?
You think hanging some nicknacks on your tree entitles you to supreme fandom?
Ninja Please!
Until you have The Serenity, and the BrownCoats flag tattooed on your forearm, you are bush league.

Dayum. I’m just gonna non-chalantly bow out this one...

I liked Firefly, but I couldn't stand the girl from the freezer and her annoying brother. I think the show would have been 2X as good if they'd just booted them both out an airlock at the first opportunity.

Just curious whether you’ve seen the movie.

I have, but don't remember it. Its been at least 10+ years.

I can see finding them a bit irritating, but I think that was part of the point...they were basically the center of the storyline, and his straight laced "good boy" attitude was a direct contrast to the rest of the crew. It created a different level of tension where even though they were together, they weren't ever really on the same page.

I was only wondering because the presence of her character is crucial to the story line and explains a key part of the whole Firefly universe.

Simon Tam was also a good example of someone giving up all the comforts that came with living on a core planet, protected and ruled by the gubbermint, in an effort to do what they knew to be right.

her story is just a side story in that universe. The alliance did many things, messing with her head and making reavers (which are just boogiemen from the edge of known space to most people) was just one of them.

If you read the official comics, by Dark Horse,
There will be the Shepherd’s Tale, which tells of Shepherd Book’s origins- very interesting.
There is also another story where several of Wash’s friends are reminiscing about what a badass pilot he was.
There is also the reckoning between Zoey and The Operative.
And another where you find out why a lot of their capers go sideways, and they seem to always just miss the “big score”
