First casting

A bunch for a 30 Luger. I tried casting at around 750 so they would not be as frosty. It seemed to work just fine.
Know that when casting, you'll have to vary your method, alloy and temp to get good results depending on bullet weight and design. Like I said about minies, run it hot (850+), pour it fast. My 45ACP molds like the lead to be about 750F for best results.

Didn't know anyone reloaded that round anymore!! I have one (original Luger P-08) but don't shoot it much. I did score 5 boxes of loaded ammo at a good price, and I do have dies to reload with. Interesting cartridge, isn't it?

My father had one that his father traded a Marlin rifle for way back in the dark ages. I grew up shooting that 30 Luger quite often until I got into revolvers as a teenager and eventually into 1911 pistols and more revolvers. I have not had it too long but am enjoying tinkering with it and trying to get some functional magazines. I finally got enough workable magazines to try it at an IDPA match one of these days. Loading it is fairly similar to loading for a 357 Sig except the only bullets I have are ones I cast myself instead of FMJ bullets. They seem to do fine.

Good to know. I believe some 1911's were made in .30 Luger, as well as some Browning Hi-Powers, and I believe some Ruger P89's as well, if memory serves me correctly.
