I'm not a big 22 rimfire guy (although that might change, I need the practice!) so I don't have zillions of rounds down range, but I did have my first case rupture issue yesterday.

Armscor 36gr plated hollow points, working very well in my TS .22 Glock conversion but then the gun went "pfffft!" instead of "bang!". Lotta smoke coming out of the frame/slide and I could feel some crap hitting my hand. Cleared it out, nothing in the barrel and everything looked intact and I wasn't bleeding so I continued shooting. From what I can tell, no damage and the gun ran fine the rest of the day.

yeah it happens. I stick with CCI and Federal ammo almost exclusively due to serious QC issues with almost all other cheap bulk rimfire.

That is why I gave away all my Remington Thunderbolts that I bought years ago. Had 2 rounds out of the same box do that. If I remember correctly I gave away four boxes and warned the person about the problem. Never had it happen again with any other brand.

Run the Thunderbolts in bolt guns and revolvers all day. No feed/cycle issues that way. We’re about halfway through our LAST box now....

Winchester Power Points were bad about that. I had blow outs at the rim many times in my Chief AJ 10/22. Some lots of PP's were recalled for double powder charges. Ye Ha! Big fun. For all I know thats what was going on with mine. I still have a case of that stuff.

Had this happen in 2016 with my Beretta ARX-160, .22 version of the ARX-100.

I was at Frontline Defense using my Beretta ARX 160 .22LR, I believe the round did not fully seat in the chamber when it fired,
this rifle has ambidextrous ejection port, hot combustion gas shot out the left side.

I put it in safe and the spent cartridge was stuck between the fresh round in the magazine
and the bolt, I checked the barrel and it was clear.

So always wear your eye protection!
