Anyone here pocket carry a fixed blade knife?
I have a nice short drop blade that I really like.
For some reason I want to pocket carry it. I dont
like to belt carry stuff on a daily basis.
Thoughts here?

My understanding is that fixed blades can not be concealed legally. Maybe just my neck of the woods.

Correct, fixed blades cannot be concealed.

§ 14-269. Carrying concealed weapons.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person willfully and intentionally to carry concealed about his or her person any bowie knife, dirk, dagger, slung shot, loaded cane, metallic knuckles, razor, shuriken, stun gun, or other deadly weapon of like kind, except when the person is on the person's own premises.

(d) This section does not apply to an ordinary pocket knife carried in a closed position. As used in this section, "ordinary pocket knife" means a small knife, designed for carrying in a pocket or purse, that has its cutting edge and point entirely enclosed by its handle, and that may not be opened by a throwing, explosive, or spring action.

I’m in the market for a fixed blade less than 3”. I lost my favorite SOG Mini Aegis, and I just can’t find a suitable AO to replace it (must be less than 3” due to employer restrictions). I looked at the SOG Instinct, but it’s got some bad reviews. Planning on belt/waistband carry. I saw a beautiful Benchmade, but I don’t think I could risk abusing or losing anything of that caliber. Any suggestions?

I have a Cold Steel Bird and Trout knife that I wear outside my shirt around my neck at times. Great when running, biking or other outdoor activity when wearing running shorts.

I'll be finishing up a wharncliffe shortly. It isn't spoken for yet.

Maybe one or two...or 4.

The CRKT probably gets the most mileage. I contend that with lanyard hanging out of the pocket, it's not concealed.

The Spyderco ARK is my least favorite, it just doesn't carry well.

North Carolina knife laws are beyond stupid.

"you're under arrest for concealing a dirk"

"no sir, that is not a dirk, it's a dagger!"

(how did they overlook a bodkin?)

So, not being fully versed in the definition of middle ages weaponry, am I correct that it's legal to concealed carry a fixed blade knife that is sharpened on both edges?

I’ve been eyeing the CRKT shown here, but now I think I have a few more on my list thanks to you folks.

I’m thinking this clip might be a nice addition to the Kydex neck sheaths for belt or pocket carry.

That's exactly what the CRKT has on it's sheath, have one for the Izzula but haven't put it on yet.

Normally I carry a ESEE Izula 2 or Candiru in my pocket. With the Micarta scales, they are too thin without.

My usual companion. Creely blades Mako in CPM Rex 121. Just the right size, love the in the pocket sheath.

My uncle had great advice that has served me well. Don't get an expensive knife. You'll either never use it or feel bad when you mess it up. Get a thirty dollar knife and use it for everything. Use it to dig holes. Use it to pry things. Use it as a screwdriver. Use it as a wire stripper. Sharpen it often. When you break it (and you will) go buy another thirty dollar knife.

I go through two or three a year. And I get more use out of my EDC knife than anybody I know. Most of them are gifts. I don't even have to buy them. And I don't really care what brand they are. I'm gonna wear them out anyway.

My only requirement is half serrated. Gotta have my wire strippers.
