A citizen’s video that shows the fatal shooting of a Lauderdale Lakes man by a
Broward Sheriff’s deputy appeared on social media that contained inaccurate claims.

And on Friday afternoon, the sheriff’s office took the unusual step of releasing additional
video from surveillance cameras, two deputies’ body cameras and 911 recordings from
the open investigation to defend the actions of Deputies.

Why should releasing the body cam videos be unusual? All police videos should be public record and published for all to have access to them. The police are public officials and have no right to any privacy while on duty.

That guy was stupid so he got what he asked for. There was a time when officers were expected to go hands on in that situation but nowadays the protocol seems to lean more towards policing people hands off.

True, but the "victim" was a lot bigger than the cop, he would have been an idiot to take him on hand to hand unless he had some serious MA training, and even then bad things can happen. The cops used to have night sticks and knew how to use them. They took sticks away because cops abused suspects with them, but in this case they gave the cops no other alternative than to shoot or get beaten up (at best).

Yeah I don't have a problem with this one. That guy bought the ticket and got the ride. That officer did commands, then went with non-lethal with his taser I believe, then went to his asp and then start getting his tail beat... didn't still didn't shoot the guy. Makes me question if the assailant would have been shot even if he would have gotten down and started beating on the guy. Or the officer would have just lost control of his pistol.

Whatever that guys issue was he left the police with little choice. If the guy was a career criminal I say good riddance and if he just had mental issues then I feel bad but the cops had no choice.

Kimber Pepper Blaster II may have worked but when somebody is so agitated and violent you never know.
Perhaps PD needs electrified batons instead of the ASP.

I hope the officers were not influenced from recent events from drawing their service weapons sooner.
